An Apology to the Fallen American
“A thousand, A thousand die!”
Metaphysicians of doubt
Sulk about, whine and shrill cry.
Since for them this no duty sacrifice
Human interests all mean selfish purchase,
Doubt proves no concern, thus immediacy and avarice
All else as future, therefore as pointless.
This thousand, and comrades, experience
Neither matter not a farthing, a tad-lil’ bit,
Their endeavor’s due purpose, human deliverance,
(With its mistakes and shortcomings,)
As worthless, so much I-told-you-so ****.
Voicing care ‘bout your death
Yet beak-***** worth of cause,
Go on slinging with stealth
Chained hits with no pause.
Sliming strapped warrior symbols,
Spitting meaningless on brow,
They whine on ignoble
Give evil its bow.
(“No rest, no sleep, no moment’s respite.
Groans shall your speech be,
Lamentations your only words”)
As one faced the elephant
In a distant time and shore
I know what of I chant
So I won’t be a bore.
Just let me voice tho’ weak
While you lay in your bliss,
The doubters not speak
But I do of this.
Those who know best
Will await you to rest,
While we in the test
Do the grapple and wrest.
Rest easy my Prometheuseans
Though you’re gone but not lost
Accept thanks with reverence
Your fire-value our host.
I will not let the harpy
Take place in my heart,
These know-nothings not see
Nor can make me a part.
I know why you sleep
In that ever so deep,
Your best within fought for
That among us it stay - evermore. |
