Uh, oh.

>>Sen. John Kerry's campaign biographer Douglas Brinkley said Sunday that if an ongoing Navy investigation into Kerry's military decorations turns up evidence of "purposeful" deception, it could spell doom for the top Democrat's White House bid.

Praising reporter Thomas Lipscomb, who broke news of the Navy investigation on Friday, Brinkley told WABC Radio's Steve Malzberg, "Journalists are going to have to see whether there's a discrepancy on [the citations posted to Kerry's] web site - whether there's something wrong that's said there or not."<<

Sounds like Brinkley is trying to salvage his own career as a serious historian. Oops, too late. Just another shill and hack.

Wow -
Brinkley has been a commentator at MSNBC along with Matthews, I wonder if he will get the boot for his honest opinion?

And, it's Army vs. Army on this post. And, the Army won one.

I will be surprised if this makes the media, because it was said on a radio show. But we can always hope.

Here are some wild thoughts that are fun to contemplate:

1. Brinkely has more access to unpublished Kerry info than anybody. He knows what will be found by the Navy will be fatally damaging, and he's trying to salvage his own reputation by heading for the life boats first.

2. Kerry's top-heavy entourage of advisors are now taking the knives out against each other, and those not coming out on top of the power struggle are sticking it to those who are, putting people like Brinkley on the talk shows.

OK, Madame Clinton would say this is just more of the right-wing conspiracy thinking, and she'd be right, because my dog and I are behind this...and I have "ties" to people who have ties, though seldom wear them.

Keep in mind he said if.

With that qualifer, one could truthfully make the same claim about nearly any political leader.

And Kerry himself could make that claim--and just add that "of course, that won't happen."

Brinkley's just (and understandably!) in a CYA mode. Let the Navy do its job, and let's not jump the gun.

NewsMax is not the original source, it is ABC radio's Steve Malzburg. The only problem with NewsMax is that they publish articles without attributing them to their original sources; this time they did.

Did you even bother to read the article???

Who cares where it came from...

If the Author of Tour of Duty, kerry's little book of lies, has concerns over what Kerry said, I would consider what he said regardless of the source....

SO let's see what Brinkley said, shall we. chuck....

Quote:
Brinkley told WABC Radio's Steve Malzberg, "Journalists are going to have to see whether there's a discrepancy on [the citations posted to Kerry's] Web site - whether there's something wrong that's said there or not."

"If so," said the "Tour of Duty" author, "Kerry would have to fix it immediately - and it does raise some questions as to why that would happen."

"Is it sloppiness, is it purposeful intent, is there an easy explanation for it?" Brinkley wondered.

So instead of deflection from the source, why not address the quotes of Brinkley, chuck?

Would you be more satisfies if there are multiple sources of Brinkley's statements?

And I hope the Navy cleans kerry's clock for his lies... And he has lied, and his campaign has admitted he lied, chuck...

CAMBODIA.......

SO if you have a BIAS against newsmax, fine chuck... but at least comment on what is being said there...

These are not anonymous quotes being made, chuck... They are attributed source quotes, from ABC radio, made by Brinkley...

So dispute those, if you can that is.....

It is better to deserve honors and not have them than to have them and not deserve them.

Sorry i still dont see where brinkley said if the navy finds there is a discrepency in the awards that he could be doomed.

This is what you pasted.

Quote:
Sen. John Kerry's campaign biographer Douglas Brinkley said Sunday that if an ongoing Navy investigation into Kerry's military decorations turns up evidence of "purposeful" deception, it could spell doom for the top Democrat's White House bid.

This is what was actually stated.

Once again Newsmax makes news breaking headlines with snooze making content. All brinkley is doing is wondering why there are discrepencies on the citation and that it was up to journalists to find out why.

Chuck, it's the source that makes it news. It's Kerry's biographer saying this, not some random right-wing speculator the media can easily ignore. This will be much harder to ignore.

You're not reading the article linked in the first post on the subject. Here's the opening of that article:
