Swift Boat Vets and Company:

Laura Ingraham warned everyone today that we cannot let up with John F. Kerry. His political history, when running for political office, shows Kerry is a strong closer when he appears to be a loser (although he is a loser).

Now more than ever, it's important the pressure on J.F. Kerry must continue. Less than 2 months to go. The hammer has to keep coming down HARD.

They said that about him in Mass, he had a problem beating a republican in massachusettes. If hes so strong a candidate wouldnt it have been an easy win? i though they were all supposed to be democrats up there.

Kerry will try but he will fail. we must make sure that happens. vote Bush

You have to remember that the MSM is still, at this point, behind Kerry. Thus they and the Dem mouthpieces keep promoting the idea of the "comeback kid".

They cite both the 1996 election in Mass (which Swiftees helped Kerry win) and defeating Dean in the Dem primaries. What this overlooks is the fact that, as a two-term incumbant in Mass he should not have had a serious challenge from the Rep, and it was no "miracle win" for an incumbant to retake his seat in liberal Mass.

Kerry won the nomination almost by default. Dean had been losing it since fall, getting more and more absurd. I think he fell victim to his own celebrity, as he had been annoited and pandered to by the far left base. The Dem primary base is leftist, but at some point practicality set in. With Dean imploding, the other choices were limited. Kucinich was a joke, Sharpton was only in it to spend donations on food and hotels and gain a speaking platform, Braun was ... who knows. Gephardt will always play the dad next door and has only eroding union support as a qualification. The Dems were left with Kerry. He looked good - decorated combat vet yet war protestor. Appeal to the doves and the hawks.

Kerry did not come back - he survived while the others fell. He survived because he was not vetted carefully. His record simply does not stand up to scrutiny, and as the Swift vets continue (as well as other 527s who are raising funds now that they see the SBVFT success) the message will continue to erode Kerry.

I see two scenarios - either a Dukakis loss or a Mondale loss.

I imagine JF always had the Kennedy influence to help him in Mass. Teddy's been in the picture w/JF ever since the war protest days. Don't thinks Teddy's influence will bleed over into the national arena, however.
