I may agree with him, but I think it may look a little like "scare tactics", and I don't like those being used on the American people. We're all smart enough to figure this out without scare tactics. My vote: a bit overboard.

I heard him talking, and it went by fast, but I don't think he directly said "the nation would face the threat of a terrorist attack if the voters made the wrong choice," like it says in the article. It was a string of short phrases, something like, if you make the wrong choice and vote in our opponents. Then there would be another terrorist attack, and they would go about it like it's a police procedure.

I think he meant to say "if there would be another terrorist attack" -- because the emphasis of his comment was that they would use police tactics to fight the war on terror. Just sounded like he misspoke -- I could be wrong......

Reading the whole article and wondering what else was said that wasn't reported... the entire text of the speech wasn't available.

Cheney had some very good points:

Kerry himself has advocated a reactionary and law enforcement approach to terrorist acts.

He is also repeating exactly the same rhetoric as Howard Dean did - wrong war, wrong time, wrong reason - a few months ago, he totally disagreed with Dean!

I doubt Dick Cheney went too far. It isn't fear-mongering to tell the truth about your opponenet.

Why not when the thought of Kerry being responsible for our Nation's security scares the bejeebers out of me (and, IMO, ought to scare the bejeebers out of everyone)?--

This Bozo thinks wants to treat terrorism as a police matter--Kinda like how we handle someone who gets caught with an ounce of coke--Gimme a break!--

Just so that it doesn't go out of context, I don't think of another terror attack in terms of "if", but "when"--You know they're going to keep trying to hit us again and, sooner or later, they'll get another one right--Big time--And when that happens, I want someone in the White House who can be counted on to 1) take the battle to them first, just to keep them busy and minimize how often they can pull something off here between now and when the rest of the world gets serious enough about this to gang up on them and squash this thing and 2) go completely postal on 'em IMMEDIATELY any time they are succeessful--

And frankly, I don't believe for a single minute that Kerry will do either--C

Lets stop parsing words and looking for politically incorrect wording from candidates.

I will state this plain and clear.

Cheney: Vote for Bush, because he intends to kill every terrorist on planet earth which intends to harm our counrty.

Kerrey: I am very intelligent, actually so intelligent that when I say stupid things people will explain to you dumb cows that those points of view are nuanced. Please you dumb cattle go look up nuanced then come back and we will continue our discussion.

Cheney: If we do not kill the people which wish us harm we will wind up with a nuclear explosion blowing up lower Manhatten.

Kerrey: Scare tactics by the right wing fanatics would have you believe we face a danger that just isn't there. I know how to deal with people because of my great intellect. The people on the right are just cattle who do not understand the nuance of people as brilliant as myself. Vote for me I will talk and convert the radicals to my way of thinking. Not sure what I think but it will be a way of thinking which doesnt involve the destruction of the United States. Trust me.

Cheney: No scare tactics. I just want to assure my family a place they can grow up in without fear of evil political operatives or terrorists. They are the same. My families future depends we acknowledge this point.

GenrXr out!

Only thing you're wrong about is saying "sounded like he misspoke". In no way did he mis-speak. It was quite clear that he was not saying that Kerry's election (God forbid) would presage a terrorist attack. He, as you and others have rightly stated, was only criticizing the foolishness of Kerry's proposed method of fighting terrorism. It is only the whacked out left's spin that provided us with the mis-interpretation of the VP's comments.

That being said, the presence of a weak Commander-in-Chief could well encourage our enemies to attack with the idea that he might give in to their demands in some way.

I must agree with Cheney on this point and the American people do need to be scared of Kerry. Our enemy's need know they cannot get away with attacks on us as long as Bush is in control, but they also know that Kerry will never have the guts to confront them. Just the opposite, Kerry will probably side with them.
Did anyone catch the news today the the French are still supplying the insurgents in Iraq. Remember, these are the same French that Kerry will consult and get approval from before protecting this country.

I see nothing really wrong in what Cheney said, especially when you consider the intense levels of deceit and unfair slander that's been coming from liberals for years now.

And besides, the truth is that Kerry is a certified-wuss on national defense. And likely always will be.

So why pretend Kerry's wimpiness is not a deadly liability for us all?
