Congrats on noticing those document inconsistencies!
Are those four items the only 'un-revealed source' docs in the CBS story?
If not, could there be additional, better-done forgeries lurking in the stack?
If forgeries were done 'properly' in Word, using Courier or Monaco, they might be more difficult to identify... |

If you bring evidence with "dirty hands" the court usually will disallow all the evidence. Although only four documents are clearly forgeries, all of them are suspect and should be ignored until their authenticity is absolutely proven. _________________ '58 Airedale HMR(L)-261 VMO-2 |

JCJR,
I don't know what font Monaco is, but if they'd used Courier or Letter Gothic, it would have been more difficult to detect. However, they'd still have had the superscript problem and the format and wording might have been caught by military people.
The proportional spacing was the big red flag, though. |

Hi You GottaBeKidding
Monaco is just another typewriter-looking font, on Macintosh. Its so long ago I may be mistaken, but IIRC Monaco looks a lot like an old typewriter font "Letter Gothic". Simpler (and sometimes easier to read) than Courier. But I may be remembering wrong.
The ideal way to make such a forgery would be to find an old Air Force clerk, then dig up an old typewriter from the dusty darkness of some National Guard storage shed (GRIN).
But anybody with a little sense could make a passable forgery with a word processor program and a high-res laser printer, as long as yer passing it off as a xerox or carbon copy. An original would have telltale impact marks on the paper.
Was just wondering if there are better-done forgeries floating around, which might be identified by CONTENT and SYNTAX (since the appearance might look genuine). I'm a civilian who wouldn't know the difference one way or t'other.
In the other thread, there are references to this--
"On September 29, 1972, Bush was officially suspended from flying for missing his annual medical examination. The orders note that Bush’s suspension is authorized under the guidelines presented in Air Force Manual 35-12 Para 2-29m, which reads that Bush’s local commander “will direct an investigation as to why the individual failed to accomplish the medical examination.” [Aeronautical Orders, Number 87, 29 Sept 72; AFM 35-13, Para 2-29m]"
It was said that "AFM 35-13" appears to be bogus. I googled for the string, and some Democrat web site references appear to be old, perhaps dating back to the last election cycle.
Perhaps it is just a transcription mistake which got ignorantly cloned by a zillion partison sites. Dunno. |

JCJR,
Laser printer output is probably too crisp to pass as typewriter print, but ink jet output would work if it were scanned or FAXed or copied. |

I still have my mom's college typewriter sitting on my work table.
It has a new ribbon in it and works perfectly. A 75 year old
Underwood with an open frame. Big heavy sucker. My brother used
it to write his sermons up until he died 10 years ago. It shouldn't
have been a magical trick to use a period Selectric should it? _________________ Tin Can Sailor |
