Well he's going for broke... Dan Rather just said in an interview on CNN that the documents are real and they are sticking by them...no investigation, no retraction, people just don't like the truth he said. He said people need to concentrate on the allegations and the truth instead of where the documents came from. Un-freakin-believable!!! And now Edwards is calling on Bush to "address these disturbing memos".

I think Rather and the Kerry Camp are going for broke here. He's going to end his career just to try and pull John Kerry over the finish line to the White House. Stand back and watch...he just might pull the whole network down if they can't prove the documents were real. Unless it's a trap and they typed up the real documents, and he's really got some kind of memos... I'm willing to bet on the former though. It's a sad day for CBS.

If those memos are fake say bye bye to both Rather and 60 minutes. Since 60 minutes withdrew its tobacco story and left their whistle blower out to dry I lost all respect for them. But this is bigger and more damaging then that miserable episode and will nail the coffin shut.

They are investigating. Rather is going down and is just in denial.

Powerlineblog.com has all the main stuff. They've been heading up the charge for this story. They have the new statement issued by CBS. It's pretty sad.

There is no way CBS News will withstand the pressure coming from some in the media who would normally be supporting them.

This story, from forged documents, will finally instigate the changing of the guard at CBS News. However, like Hamas, "CBS Evening News With..." has a far left liberal news director waiting in the wings.

Here's what this says to me. Either Rather and CBS has the goods on Bush--which I doubt otherwise they would have used it already. Or...the truth is SO damaging that CBS and Rather made the decision to ride out the storm, let him retire in a few months, and let CBS take the hit from the other press and the internet and the viewers. This is scary, given that they would think the truth would be that much more damning. This means Kerry might seriously be involved and it would sink his campaign.

Do I smell "ForgeryGate?"

CBS will not disclose the source of the memos. It wouldn't surprise me if the memos came from someone deep within the Kerry campaign staff. If that turns out to be true, and the documents prove to be fake, imagine the outcome of that?

Dan Rather, CBS News, and the DNC would implode big time!!

My Mom sent me an e-mail today at work. She says FOX is hammering the forgery story and the Rather thing.

If those docs are fake then Rather will be zapped for sure because FOX for all it's flaws has all the other networks beat and is about to put the last salvo into them from what the ratings are showing.
