We have a small, family-owned retail business in Houston. We are Mom and Pop "ish" compared to our competitors in this huge market.
I have had a particular item I have needed to sell for sometime. I told my wife on Friday I was going to mark it down to $500 above cost (a small margin for the things we sell) and that if it sold, I would send a check for $500 to the Swift Boat Vets For Truth.
Low and behold- it sold at 4:30 this afternoon (we close at 5:00). I couldn't claim it was me pushing it, the customer falling in love and wanting it, Kerry hoping against it or what...quite frankly, I think each of us on a daily basis decide God's will for our lives based on the choices we make and where our hearts are.
Regardless, my $500 is on the way. With two sons in college and two more at home...it's far more than I thought I could do. But as these veterans have shown by example...a promise is a promise and in honor of their service...I will keep mine.
God bless you guys. Keep fighting the good fight.

By the way...I removed my occupation and the name of my website from my profile. This was not done in an attempt to garner advertising. It was a "following the heart" kind of thing. |

I would rather spend my money at a business that is sbvt friendly than one that isn't.
Maybe a secret handshake is in order...
Maybe a small decal in the business window...
Very noble of you by the way, just got me thinking we should be doing business with each other when its time to spend our money. _________________ Deborah

Fantastic. The country thanks you. _________________ The war against terrorism is not that Americans might die rather that we would alter our way of living. If we get to a point where we choose not to go out because of fear, our economy will sink and in the end so will our nation. Vote Bush. |

What an excellent idea. Perhaps the Swiftvets could create a list of businesses that support the Swiftvets, complete with addresses - especially online addresses - and then we could do business with those folks. I'm willing to pay more to do business with a Swiftvets supporter, and I have some work that needs to be done right now. _________________ antimedia
