"The UMWA gave John Kerry a Union made Remington shotgun in appreciation for Kerry's determination to bring jobs, healthcare, and a better education to all West Virginians."
Problem is, Mr. Kerry is a resident of Massachusetts. It is ILLEGAL for him to take possession of a firearm across state lines unless the transaction goes through a FFL (Federal Firearms License) dealer.
If so, it should be brought to the OFFICIAL attention of the BATF. Either the law applies to everyone or it applies to no one.

The national clamor over the Democratic presidential candidate,
who took possession of a Browning semiautomatic shotgun outside
his home state, reflects a problem with the laws and should not
be used to arrest and prosecute the man, Korwin says.
A gun crossing state lines is heavily regulated.
"There are so many charges Kerry might face," according to Korwin,
who has written seven books on gun laws, including the unabridged,
plain-English federal guide, "Gun Laws of America."

I disagree with Mr. Korwin. Whereas I would personally be inclined to let Kerry off for the reason Korwin says, Kerry's party seems to like "zero tolerance" enforcement-- you go to jail for an honest mistake as well as a deliberate violation-- so let us give them what they want. Zero tolerance. _________________ --Bill
