It certainly clears up the "numerically superior" enemy force nonsense ... _________________ JJC

I see what you're referring to, but the statement "OINC of PCF 94 chased VC inland behind hootch and shot him" could be interpreted as:
Kerry shot him as the VC was behind the hootch;
Kerry went behind the hootch and shot him.
It's unclear, to me at least. |

Holy cow...Notice how there is absolutely NO mention of anything about the VC raising the weapon, ready to fire at PCF-94, simply "VC sprung up from bunker 10 feet from unit. Man ran with weapon towards hooch". Good things - Kerry lied and said nobody had ever mentioned anything about a VC going behind a hooch. Also, no mention of VC pointing B-40 Rocket Launcher at PCF-94. Looks more and more that Kerry shot the VC in the back, or after he was already down behind the hooch from the leg wound received from the M-60 gunner. This is big news, been waiting for this for over a month.... I wonder where that Silver Star Recommendation is??? |

John Kerry said "I went straight out from the boat to the path so I had a line of fire. I never went behind the hootch, and this is the first time in 30 years that anybody has suggested otherwise." --John Kerry 1996
This may be picking hairs, but if Kerry never went behind the hooch, how did he pick up the B-40??? It would have been impossible, unless of course the VC dropped it while he ran away. However, there is no mention of him dropping his weapon, nor has it ever been related that way. |

Be careful how you make the case is all I'm saying. It can be interpreted as " I meant I never went behind the hootch until the action was over." He'll spin it any way he can. That said, it sure doesn't sound like a Silver Star type of action to me. Good luck on this. Be smart. |

Sounds like the 43 boat was doing the "glory" work. Did anyone other than Kerry get a Silver Start for this event? |

I think there were something like 20 medals awarded during this day. I think it has been confirmed of the strategy to beach the boats prior to the mission during this day, and there has been talk about going for a bunch of medals that day. I'm not sure, did anyone else get a Silver Star. I'm sure lots were more deservant than Kerry. |

Where did this document surface from? Is this from the Naval Archive search from Monday and Tuesday? I have seen multiple threads of people looking for this in attempt to prove VC was already wounded and fleeing when Kerry chased him behind hootch. Any new docs coming up now give me a cuase to be leery with the whole Rathergate thing. |

NavyChief has been looking/analyzing it on the main forum. It was posted there about an hour ago.
It is now on the Resourses and Research forum. _________________ Home in Lubbock Texas, home of the Vietnam Project at Texas Tech University. A place visited frequently by Navy Chief.
