NewsMax reported that CBS has received over 80,000 emails regarding the forged documents.

Keep your eyes on Travis County, Texas. That appears to be ground zero for the start of this escapade by Rather.

Only 80,000? Darn, I was hoping 800,000 and at least 6 of those are ones from me.

one disadvantage of the electronic world, can you imagine what 80.000 letters piled up in the CBS mail room would look like?

Good point about email. Snail mail letters recieve much more attention than emails, and are given more weight. A snail mail letter is weighted at 237--so if you write a traditional letter, those recieving it consider it to be the opinion of 237 people. Not so with email.

I live just south of Travis County, what's up with Travis County (other than it is the county of our State Capitol)?

Rather's daughter wanted to be mayor of Austin, or some crap.

Just about everybody else in Texas thinks Austin is full of wild-eyed liberals.

Well let's look at this from an IT perspective, though the main characters of this play would take notice of 80,000 snailmail letters, I can attest that their IT people are fully aware of the weight of tens of thousands of emails coming through, and if they hit all at once umm.... Lets jsut say I wouldn't want to be the one responsible for keeping the email servers online. I say keep flooding their email if we can achieve even higher volumes it'll resemble a DDoS attack Laughing

E-mail is and has slowly started to become the norm now.

A few years back I was used to sending snail mail and then I noticed a shift to e-mail.

Imagine if C-BS recieved 80k snail mails, would all of them be opened?

The e-mails can be more of a guage now in the super fast world of the internet. If a person had sent a snail mail last Friday it might be in a bin with 10k other letters in the basement to never be opened.

The head of the IT department at CBS is probably in touch with the exec's at the top about what they are recieving.

Yeah, but all those e-mails are just part of the vast right wing conspiracy, so they are discounted...

Even so, 80000 has to be a record for them on one subject

Hey, hey, hey there Kimmymac. You are hitting too close to home. Evil or Very Mad The wild-eyed liberals live north of Ben White Blvd. Okay, there are some south. We're trying to brainwash them though. I think CBS has made our job "a leetle easier".

What amazes me is the FCC gets all upset becuase CBS airs Janet Jackson's nasty looking nipple but smearing the president with forged documents is 'ok'?

Kimmymack

According to Rush Limbaugh today, Travis County is the center of the storm in Rathergate.

Wouldn't surprise me. Anybody remember Juanita Lozano? She was a Precinct Chair for the Dem. Party here in Travis County, Texas who secretly copied 120+ pages of debate preparation documents and a 60 minute videotape of a debate preparation session with Bush and his advisors and sent it to the Gore Campaign under a different name. Former Rep. Tom Downey who was helping Gore prepare for the debates turned it over to the FBI. (This info was taken from several AP reports, March 2001)
