I know this is a hell of a long shot. You said you were with the 9th in '68.
One of my best friends,Frank Nestich Pfc. 9th 2/39 E Co. was killed 6 June '68 in Dinh Tuong.Do you know anything, anything at all,or can point me to a source?
I had the door shut on this part of my life for a long time. That door got jerked open about 12 years ago by the head mechanics, now there are need to know things for me. I've researched as much as i know how.I have found a little, but someone who was there could help.
Thanks partner.

Well, Del, the basic information for Frank is below. I looked at the 9th Div website, and as luck would have it, the 2/39th does not have a website/association themselves. However, I did get a few names from associated units, and maybe that will help. I'll let you know via private message.

I'll be in DC today, and will stop by The Wall and pay Frank a visit.

He wasn't even there a month . . . . .

Doug,
Thank you for the info. It is Frank's 20 some days in country that trouble me most. I don't know why. Perhaps I read my own experience into this and how it could have been.
Frank and I grew-up together. I met him in kindergarten and were fast friends until I enlisted in '65. I spent a lot of years with my head shoved up my ass and didn't discover his death till some time later. I don't even know where he's buried.
Thank you for your visit to the "Wall", if you are able tell him Dave still thinks of him, still remembers.

Must be ESP. I said that in my reply, but deleted it before posting.

Why don't you tell his brother, or his nephew, who was named after him?

That info I will send you via private message, later tonight.

Do you still live in Ohio?

Boy, this internet is a wonderful thing sometimes!

I relayed your message to Frank this afternoon.

I spoke to Frank's brother, Jim, just now. You are welcome to contact him also.

Read my private message to you, and/or send me an e-mail directly.
