My local paper has a great cartoon on its editorial page this morning. Unfortunately, I can't find it online but it should be available tomorrow. I'll try to remember to post a link.

Anyway, one panel shows PCF-94 sailing merrily along (okay, not sailing, but proceeding, above the water, no less) with the label "Swift Boat" above it. The second panel shows a similar boat sitting still in the water with Kerry fishing off the back of the boat (I'm not a sailor so I'm just going to use the non-nautical description). The back of the boat is labelled "Counter-Attacks".

There was also a cartoon in the Washington Times a few weeks ago which showed Kerry in uniform on a Swift Boat, proudly piloting with his chest puffed up, labeled "Pro-War Kerry", about to run into an underwater mine labeled "Anti-War Kerry".

So when do we put that mine in the water?

I saw this on another forum. The good part is: it's from 1984....

www.coxandforkum.com always has good cartoons and commentary/blogging.

Check back a couple of weeks for some Swifts-related material.

Way cool, no matter what topic they take on. Smile

YouGottaBeKidding,

The official Navy term for the front of the boat (or ship) is "the pointy end." The back of the boat is "the other end." Hope this clears things up.

Boats,
you're just too funny...you're going to have those poor unfortunate souls who were never blessed to serve in the world's greatest navy all confused...CHEERS!

Boats... You sound like Quint in the movie "Jaws". "Hooper! Front: Bow, Back: Stern, and if ya don't get it right I'll stuff you out the little round window in the side!" Laughing Laughing Laughing

Boats, being a land-lubber myself, I thought pointy end referred to dem flying things, aero-planes, as in its good if the pointy end is forward and the shiny side down. Laughing

Was hoping to be able to get the cartoon to display but haven't had any luck.
