Hail, Swiftees!
As someone who has closely followed the efforts of the Swiftees and other anti-Kerry vet groups, I’m concerned about the protective “Iron Curtain” of distortions and lies that the mainstream media has dropped over Kerry’s Vietnam war record. Democrat party flacks like James Carville and their TV and print enablers always meet any criticism of Kerry’s record with the following distortions:
• “The Swift Boat Veterans’ lies about Senator Kerry’s war record.” [The most often used -- and least challenged -- dismissal of any criticism of Kerry]
• “Republican [-sponsored] [-affiliated] [-funded] groups like the Swift Boat Veterans.” [Falsely implies that the Swiftees are sponsored by, and funded by the Republican Party. Constantly repeated on TV and in print.]
• “None of Senator Kerry’s Swift Boat critics served on his boat.” [Used to invalidate any eyewitness accounts that dispute Kerry’s version of events]
With just weeks to go before the election, what’s the most effective way for the Swiftees and other anti-Kerry vet groups to get their media message across? How can the above distortions be countered? Is it time for the Swiftees to issue a point-by-point rebuttal?
Perhaps other forum members can weigh in with some suggestions comments, and other examples of media distortion in this thread. |

Welcome aboard, pleikuman.
FYI, we try to keep this board reserved for topics relating directly to John Kerry and current news about him.
Update: on second thought, the main forum is also for current SBVT events. So have at it.
Thanks. _________________ Bye bye, Boston Straggler! |
