I don't care who does something as insensitive and disgusting as this, THEY ARE MEAN AND STUPID. I just can't even find the words. I have written to a dozen papers already and will continue. I will call this Craig whoever tomorrow. As a speech-language pathologist I have devoted my life to supporting families whose children are challenged by autism and other disorders, the life journey is difficult and taken one day at a time. Our love for the children knows no bounds. This "man's" cruelty knows no bounds.
For this type of disgusting, sophmoric picture/poster to be put out by a supposed HUMAN running for an office is incomprehensible. I am so outraged.
To the families hurt by this, I am so sorry.

And Kerry had a fit over the bandaids with purple hearts???? Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Twisted Evil I am screaming ala Zell right now!!!

I surely hope that anyone, regardless of political affiliation, would be outraged by this ad. I also think that it is appropriate to call a spade a spade. This ad reflects the "corporate culture", if you will, of the leadership of the national Democratic party. I'm sorry if that is offensive to some, but it's simply a fact, and obviously, the leadership of the party doesn't necessarily reflect the views of all members (as pointed out so eloquently by Zell Miller).

It's a fact that John Edwards said that anyone who votes for George Bush has "lost their mind". It's a fact that Teresa Heinz-Kerry said that anyone who doesn't want her husband's health care plan is an "idiot". This type of rhetoric that attacks not just politicians, but any citizen who dares to disagree with the Kerry agenda, is perfectly acceptable to the leadership of the Democratic party, as evidenced by the lack of any official rebuttal to these remarks. It is a very small step from these unchallenged comments at the national level, to "retards" at the local level.

The "politics of personal destruction" are no longer reserved for actual candidates. All Americans are fair game, including the most vulnerable among us. This type of behavior is vile and reprehensible, no matter which party engages in it. The leadership of the Democratic Party needs to be held accountable for its role in encouraging a political climate which spawns such despicable attacks.

As the mother of a developmentally disabled child, I and my family are PERSONAL victims of this cruel and vicious ad. And I will not apologize for taking it personally, being offended and stating my objections in the strongest manner possible.

Compassionate Conservatives aren't called that for nothing.

I don't know what you call people that do this stuff.

Maybe the Dems should split and get a compassionate title of their own for teh Dems that are not leftist wackos.

I just called the office of the Governor of Tennessee, the office of the Speaker of the House of TN and the TN Council on Developmental Disabilities. Of the three offices, only the Council on D.D. had heard of this issue. The lady I spoke with there assured me that they are acting on this unbelievable attack.

If you would like to express your concerns about this matter, here are some contact numbers:

Governor Phil Bredesen 1-615-741-2001

Speaker of the House James Naifeh 1-615-741-3774

House Majority Leader Kim McMillan (D) 1-615-741-2043

House Minority Leader Tre Hartgett (R) 1-615-741-8201

State Representative Craig Fitzhugh (D) 1-615-741-2134

Tennessee Council on Developmental Disabilities 1-800-640-4636

If you live in TN, there is a toll free number for the State Representatives, 1-800-449-8366. After dialing this number, you will need to enter the last five digits of the Representative's office number, above.

For contact information for other Tennessee elected officials, or for email addresses, visit the website of the Tennessee government, http://www.tennesseeanytime.org/government/.

This item was on the front page (I guess you call it that) of yesterday's Drudge Report, meaning Americans from coast to coast are getting a very negative view of Tennessee politics. Obviously, the vast majority of Tennessee residents, not to mention Democrats in general, do not support this outrageous attack on those with disabilities. As such, it is clearly an issue which affects the entire government of the state of Tennessee.

Please take a few minutes to respectfully contact some of the officials listed herein, and convey your concerns about this reprehensible campaign flyer, as well as concerns for the now tarnished image of state government in TN.

P.S. I also called the office of Rep. Fitzhugh, but only got an answering machine. I left a message expressing my outrage and disgust, civil, but with feeling Wink .
