If I happen to be near my phone and thus pick it up, the calls that really disgust me are the recordings! Of course you can hang up, but try making a call--right--they're still on there talking away and you can't disconnect until they finish.
I also feel the legal calls that come through should be easier to put a stop to. Ever get one of those tiny print, 16-page announcements of 'changes to your credit agreement' in your credit card statement? They can pass on your telephone number to anyone they feel 'has offerings you may be interested in.' To put stop to it you have to notify them in writing that you don't want these so-called offers. I think they should have to receive your written permission to give out your telephone number, not the other way around.
On the other hand, I'm one of these people who makes these calls.  I volunteer at my county GOP office quite frequently.  Thank goodness I haven't been subjected to the whistle in my ear yet.

I live in Massachusetts, which is such a lost cause, that I have never gotten a phone call, or seen a national political commercial. Good in some ways, bad in others.

Let the DC crowd waste their time calling in DC --- talk about wasted energy if this is any indication of how Skerry government would be run the lack of efficiency and focus scares me. |

When I get a call from one of you guys, I'm always polite, and assure him that I will be voting Republican even if it is with my last dying gasp, so he doesn't need to waste his time on me.

| When you have a little time, tell them you're undecided and let them launch the hard sell. Just encourage them to go on and on with a hmmm and an uh-huh now and then. You don't have to accomplish anything other than keeping them on the line for 10 minutes. That will prevent them from making 20 other calls. |

You won't get a call from Dems being Massachusetts is a "safe" district and all that until, Mitt Romney runs for re-election.
