A question:

Most conservatives would likely agree that even if no "WMD stockpiles" (whatever that means) are found in Iraq, the existing intelligence worldwide before the war made invading Iraq quite prudent. Most conservatives would also likely agree that what has been found so far (fighter jets buried under the desert [ http://www.acig.org/artman/publish/article_138.shtml ] showing clearcut intent to deceive the inspectors, equipment that could be used to make biological agents, shells with sarin, etc.) confirm the prudence of the war. Conversely, most conservatives would likely agree that for the U.S. government not to have gone in would have been grossly negligent.

On the other hand, suppose the reports such as below confirm beyond a shadow of a doubt that Saddam indeed had large stockpiles of "stuff" and that they were shipped out as a result of the war.

Will leftists then not vote for Kerry on the basis of "Kerry LIED!!!!!" (or on the basis that Kerry is reckless and imprudent with regards to American and world security)?

This World Tribune story ( http://www.worldtribune.com/worldtribune/breaking_1.html ) is a follow-up to the item we linked a couple of days ago, on the Iraqi missile engines and equipment that could be used to make weapons of mass destruction that turned up in a Jordanian scrap yard ( http://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/006883.php ). The World Tribune story is headlined, "UN inspectors: Saddam shipped out WMD before war and after":

The United Nations has determined that Saddam Hussein shipped weapons of mass destruction components as well as medium-range ballistic missiles before, during and after the U.S.-led war against Iraq in 2003. The UN Monitoring, Verification and Inspection Commission briefed the Security Council on new findings that could help trace the whereabouts of Saddam's missile and WMD program.

The briefing contained satellite photographs that demonstrated the speed with which Saddam dismantled his missile and WMD sites before and during the war. Council members were shown photographs of a ballistic missile site outside Baghdad in May 2003, and then saw a satellite image of the same location in February 2004, in which facilities had disappeared.

The Baghdad missile site contained a range of WMD and dual-use components, UN officials said. They included missile components, reactor vessel and fermenters – the latter required for the production of chemical and biological warheads.

Actually, banned Iraqi weapons, and the equipment for making them, are turning up all over--not only in Iraq, but in Syria, Jordan, the Netherlands and Sudan. People are tripping over them in scrap metal yards. Why, then, is the administration not doing anything to inform people of the fact that its prewar claims were true, and not, as the Left claims, false? I have absolutely no idea.

Note the logo painted on the side of the truck pulling the concealed Iraqi jet.
