So, since the war was fought incorrectly, what was the fallout of that? Well, for one thing, too much decision making was placed in the hands of grunts on the ground.

Maybe if we use a little dramatic dialogue, it might help:
[color=darkred]What the policy makers in Washington told the soldier or sailor, in effect was, "Come here soldier or sailor, take this list of ROEs, now you decide who is the enemy and you kill him."

Didn't happen that way at all. Kerry twisted it to make it suit his political purpose or excuse his own behavior. Take your pick. One is just as bad as the other.

This will be my last word on the matter to you. It's way too obvious what you are up to.

We have concluded you don't want to see - and Doug, I don't think you want to look at it too closely either. Please see what's next to my name below as to why. Thatisall ....

Oh, I noticed that from the outset.

And my honor's just fine, thanks.

Doug: Read it again - maybe that's your problem. I never said you have no honor! I said "It says much about a man who ....". The reasons for your doing such a baffling thing can be various. Have you read all of Kerry's Senate testimony, for example? I'd be curious to know your interpretation, since the vast majority of 'Nam vets I know and have spoken with in many venues seem to find his testimony slanderous and yes, damaging. If I opened a separate topic on his testimony, would you be willing to defend it, or do you simply wish to ignore it like oldkayaker? I am truly curious. Semper Fi!

I know you didn't.

I didn't say that you said I have no honor. I said "And my honor's just fine, thanks."

Jones

I keep telling you what Kerry's testimony meant to me and you keep ignoring my response.

Moderator note: It appears this thread has just about run it's course and has now entered a "You did...I didn't" phase. Barring the furthur injection of something of substance, it is my intent to lock this thread within another day.

Thanks
