Just like John Kerry sold out his country, he is now selling out his religion. Check out the Kerry campaign's new "religious director". This information comes from the Catholic League:

Mara Vanderslice has been appointed Senator John Kerry’s Director of Religion Outreach. Catholic League president William Donohue finds her a curious choice:

“Here’s what we know about John Kerry’s religious outreach person. Mara Vanderslice was raised without any faith and didn’t become an evangelical Christian until she attended Earlham College, a Quaker school known for its adherence to pacifism. When in college, Mara was active in the Earlham Socialist Alliance, a group that supports the convicted cop killer Mumia Abu- Jamal and openly embraces Marxism-Leninism. After graduating, Mara spoke at rallies held by ACT-UP, the anti-Catholic group that disrupted Mass at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in 1989 by spitting the Eucharist on the floor. In 2000, she practiced civil disobedience when she took to the streets of Seattle in a protest against the World Trade Organization. In 2002, she tried to shut down Washington, D.C. in a protest against the IMF and the World Bank.

“At first, John Kerry was considered too moderate for Mara, which is why she became Howard Dean’s Religion Outreach Director. She admits that she was a freak in the Dean campaign: her colleagues dubbed her the ‘church lady,’ informing her that Dean was liked precisely because he didn’t talk about religion. ‘How in the world did you get hired?’ is how one staffer put it. Unfazed, Mara contends we have a ‘collective commitment to protect the integrity of God’s creation,’ specifically citing the needs of the ‘least of these.’ Yet she supports John Kerry, a man who has never learned of an abortion he couldn’t justify.

“All the polls show Kerry getting whipped badly by Bush among practicing Catholics, Protestants and Jews. Moreover, the latest edition of Time magazine reports that only 7 percent of likely voters think Kerry is a man of strong religious faith. Given all this, his choice of Mara Vanderslice as his religious point woman is confounding. Her resume is that of a person looking for a job working for Fidel Castro, not John Kerry. Just wait until Catholics and Protestants learn who this lady really is.”

The more the American people know about John Kerry and the people he has chosen to surround himself with, the sooner they will reject him. Let's hope they find out in time for the 2004 election, because it's a sure bet the US media is doing all it can to cover up for Kerry.

I'm sure the Kerry cabal will allow us state-sponsored churches run by people like Mara Vanderslice, sort of like what exists in China currently.

After all, to the Democratic Party, it's the state uber alles, and God shall darned well know her place (and an all inclusive abortion friendly zone it shall be).

I am not religious at all, but I respect those who are if it is legitimate. From what I know about Catholisism Kerry has betrayed that too. His life is about betrayal. I know Catholics do not believe in abortion, Kerry does. That is a betrayal of the core values. I don't believe that they approve of stem cell research either, Kerry does. As for seperation of church and state, it's a memo for God's sake. There is nothing in the Constitution that refers to any such separation. The first ammendment just outlines the freedom to practice any religion of your choice, and the freedom to peaceably assemble, and the freedom to voice greivances. It does not say that we have the right to say anything we want or burn the flag. I wish people would wake up and stop the liberals attempt to rewrite the Constitution to favor their deveant life styles. Semper Fi.

I agree and I find Kerry's ability to breezily discard portions of Catholic doctrine that he disagrees with consistent with his anti-war activity post-Vietnam. There is no ambiguity with regard to the question of whether a Catholic can support abortion, just as there is no ambiguity when your anti-war tirades provide a source for enemy prison guards to attempt to break the will of POWs.

If Kerry (and for that matter Kennedy, Pelosi, Daschle, McDermott et al), truly feel that abortion is okeydoeky they are perfectly free to leave the Catholic Church and join any number of other Christian sects or other religions that believe this as well. As Americans, we are free to practice whatever religion (or lack of religion) we wish, which is just another reason why this country is so great.

But Kerry's phony devotion to a Catholic Church for which he obviously has absolutely no respect whatsover is so politcally motivated and transparent that it's remarkable in its hypocrisy even for a Democrat. If President Bush differed from his chosen faith to the extent John Kerry does, he would be pestered about it incessantly by the media.

Kerry's Choice for Religious Outreach Director 'Confounding,' Group Says
By Melanie Hunter

(CNSNews.com) - Sen. John Kerry's presidential campaign has hired a new director of religion outreach, who is being described by a Catholic group as "a curious choice."

Mara Vanderslice, who formerly worked as religion outreach director for Democrat Howard Dean, was raised without any faith and didn't become an evangelical Christian until she attended Earlham College, a Quaker school known for its adherence to pacifism, the Catholic League said on Monday.

According to Catholic League President William Donohue, when Vanderslice was in college she was active in the Earlham Socialist Alliance, a group that supports convicted cop-killer Mumia Abu-Jamal and openly embraces Marxism-Leninism.

Upon college graduation, Donohue said, Vanderslice spoke at rallies organized by ACT-UP, an anti-Catholic group that disrupted Mass at St. Patrick's Cathedral in 1989 and spit the Eucharist on the floor.

In 2000, according to Donohue, Vanderslice practiced civil disobedience by taking part in a protest of the World Trade Organization in Seattle, and in 2002, she was among those who tried to shut down the nation's capital in a protest against the IMF and the World Bank.

"At first John Kerry was considered too moderate for Mara, which is why she became Howard Dean's Religion Outreach Director," Donohue said. "She admits that she was a freak in the Dean campaign: her colleagues dubbed her the 'church lady,' informing her that Dean was liked precisely because he didn't talk about religion."

"'How in the world did you get hired?' is how one staffer put it," Donohue said.

"Unfazed Mara contends we have a 'collective commitment to protect the integrity of God's creation,' specifically citing the needs of the 'least of these.' Yet she supports John Kerry, a man who has never learned of an abortion he couldn't justify, Donohue said.

"All the polls show Kerry getting whipped badly by Bush among practicing Catholics, Protestants and Jews. Moreover, the latest edition of Time magazine reports that only 7 percent of likely voters think Kerry is a man of strong religious faith," Donohue said.

"Given all this, his choice of Mara Vanderslice as his religious point woman is confounding. Her resume is that of a person looking for a job working for Fidel Castro, not John Kerry.

"Just wait until Catholics and Protestants learn who this lady really is," he added.
