So is it?

Moore: Blurring the Lines Between Entertainment and Politics

Monday, June 14, 2004 10:50 a.m. EDT

When "Fahrenheit 9/11,” Michael Moore’s controversial Bush-bashing film, rolls into no fewer than 650 theaters on June 25 -- and possibly several hundred more – it will have the singular distinction of being the first motion picture slamming a presidential candidate in the final months of a campaign, according to a report in the LA Times.

"Are we conducting this like a campaign? Yes, we are,” Moore declared recently at a private screening. "But it’s not a campaign for Kerry. I hope this country will be back in our hands in a very short period of time.”

The film, purchased by Harvey and Bob Weinstein after Walt Disney Co. refused to let Miramax release it, paints an unflattering picture of Bush’s handling of the Sept. 11 attacks and the Iraq war......

This will backfire on Moore.

By placing these issues in the news, it will give Bush's people an open door to correct a lot of misperceptions.

The media, most of it anyway, will of course try to skew things so that Bush looks bad. That's a given and has been since the Watergate years when the formula became: Republican = Evil.

But, a lot of info will get out. Also, the movie seems to imply that Bush conspired to allow the attacks, a la the FDR/Pearl Harbor conspiracy theories. However, it's too silly for anyone to buy, unless they are already motivated by a hatred of Bush.

John Kerry should be forced by the press to either embrace the likes of Michael Moore or denounce him.

Will Kerry take this Sister Souljah moment? Doubt it. He's too much of a coward. Too afraid to alienate the moonbat, loony left Democrat base.

More importantly, George Soros has poured tens of millions of dollars into "defeating Bush" and supporting Kerry.

George Soros is a strong proponent for a one world government. How does John Kerry feel about this and why is he accepting support from a man who advocates the obliteration of American soverignty and the US Constitution.

The news report this morning said that the Commision has discovered that the 911 attacks were actually scheduled for May or June of that year but had to be moved back. This comes from the planner of the attacks Mohamed himself. It said that Atta was not ready yet so it was postponed. They wanted to hit early when Bush took office, however it was planned during the last 4 years of Clinton. So who is responsible? I favored the Commision because I knew that it would uncover the ineptness of the Clinton years. The "if it feels good do it" years are going to go down in history as the worst years this country has ever seen. Semper Fi.

Log onto this website and contact theater executives to express your outrage over their exhibition of terrorist propoganda by the obese traitor Michael Moore:

http://www.moveamericaforward.org/MichaelMoore/

I've already written executives from a local theater and let them know I will never set foot in their theater again if they choose to show this piece of raw sewage.

Moore won't jeopardize Kerry, by admitting it. He has to give the illusion he isn't. It is like we're all children. Because he doesn't come out and say it, look at the cool-aid drinking audience that can't wait to see his movie. All his friends in the Biz, all the people who say, they support Kerry. It's a dirty, hateful, lie spewing alliance.

Kerry has to denounce this mockumentary. He should be condemning alot of the venom from Gore and Kennedy also!

The ones who believe the conspiracy aren't going to change their minds. The Anybody but Bush, anti-us anything crowd.

The only film of Moore's I would like to see is footage of him leaving the country for good and taking his throngs of admirers with him so they can live in their idea of the socialist utopia this country will never be.

I think we would all be happier that way, don't you?

Except for bad foreign policy that might work. You seem to have prejudged the film. I would give your critique more credibility if you were actually discussing what you found incorrect in the film, and not your opinion.

There is nothing to judge! I've seen all of Moore's work up to date, and if his current work is like his past, it is full of lies, false conspiracies, and out and out untrue material.

Woof!

I didn't have to see Leni Riefenstahl's "Triumph of the Will" to know it was a Nazi Propoganda Film, and I don't need to see Farenheit 9/11 to know that it links misleading "facts" to outright lies in an attempt to slander the President, trash the USA and elevate Moore's moonbat conspiracy theories for his gullible audience of rubes.

Here's a link to a document that shreds the outright lies in Moore's "documentary" Bowling for Columbine. The man is a demonstrable liar who doesn't deserve any attention for his vile, traitorous film:

The point you're missing is that MOORE has burned his credibility, and anything he turns out is tainted.

It is suggested that you support this movement.

Quote:
GOP Strikes Back at Michael Moore

While the White House and the Republican National Committee have taken an official "no comment" approach to Michael Moore and his new anti-Bush documentary Fahrenheit 9/11, some conservatives have mobilized a letter-writing campaign and crafted ads that slam the film and its maker.

Fahrenheit 9/11, which won the top prize at the Cannes Film Festival, attacks President Bush's rationale for the war in Iraq and accuses him and his administration of manipulating the Sept. 11 terror attacks and fostering fear for political gain.

It is set for release on June 25, debuting on at least 500 screens, with plans to expand to hundreds more in the coming weeks.

One of the organizations rallying against Moore is Move America Forward, a pro-Bush group that evolved months ago from the letter-writing campaign that led CBS to drop its controversial TV movie The Reagans.

The group has received several thousand e-mails of support for its Moore campaign, said executive director Siobhan Guiney, a former Republican lobbyist. But she did not know how many were sent to the various theatre chains.

"Since we are the customers of the American movie theatres, it is important for us to speak up loudly and tell the industry executives that we don't want this misleading and grotesque movie being shown at our local cinema," the group says on its website, above a listing of phone numbers and e-mails for various cinema companies.

Said Guiney: "(Moore) is critical of what's happening right now, and there's no problem with being critical - but his movie is not a documentary, it's a piece of propaganda."

So far, however, Move America Forward's letters about Fahrenheit 9/11 haven't changed anything.

"There has been some communication, but not an overwhelming amount. And we do intend to play the film," said Dick Westerling, spokesman for the theatre chain Regal Entertainment Group, which has 6,020 screens in the United States.

Move America Forward is funded through private donations, not the Bush campaign or the Republican National Committee, Guiney said.

Who is behind the group?

Howard Kaloogian is the chairman, a former California assemblyman who helped organize the Gray Davis recall campaign and made a failed bid for the Republican U.S. Senate nomination.

And who is behind Moore?

One of the filmmaker's press strategists is brass-knuckles political operative Chris Lehane, a former press secretary to former vice-president Al Gore and frequent Democratic aide who worked on the presidential campaigns of John Kerry and Wesley Clark. Lehane earned a reputation in 2000 for gathering information on political enemies and bringing it to reporters.

Neither Lehane nor Moore would comment for this story.

Another independent conservative group, Citizens United, is crafting video ads for television and the Internet that slam Moore.

The group's head, David Bossie, is a former Republican congressional aide who was one of President Bill Clinton's harshest critics. He was fired in 1998 by then-Speaker Newt Gingrich for withholding the public release of testimony transcripts favourable to the Clintons in a campaign fundraising probe.

Bossie said the ads would target Moore and George Soros, the billionaire philanthropist who donated nearly $13 million US to various groups seeking to defeat Bush.

"Look, this guy (Moore) is simply producing and advertising this movie at this time to try to affect the election," Bossie said. "And so clearly organizations like mine ... it seems to be left to us to make sure that the media is educated, as well as the American people are educated, as to just what they're up to."

The liberal advocacy group MoveOn.org is trying to counter the conservative campaign with mass mailings asking members to "pledge to bring their friends, relatives and neighbours" to Fahrenheit 9/11 on opening night.

Supporters also are sending letters to theatres on Move America Forward's list, urging them not to give in to pressure to block the film.

"My guess is that their efforts will backfire and only rally support for the film, which will be terrific as far as I'm concerned," said Tom Ortenberg, president of Lions Gate Films, which is distributing the movie. "We need less censorship in this country, not more."
