You don't have to be a full-on member of PETA to contact them or the Kerry campaign to register your disapproval with Kerry's obvious tactic of killing an animal to phto-op his way into a tougher image.

And he didn't look "very silly"--he looked wery siwwy, you wascalwy wabbit!

I am an animal lover to the point where I actually eat little meat. I live in the middle of macho hunting land, but I do not feel the need to tell other people what is right for them. There are many valid reasons to hunt; I just do not have the stomach for it. It is the whole balance of power thing. The animals do not have a chance in a lot of hunting, it is just an opportunity for big bellied, over the hill losers to pretend they are real men for a half a day. Now don't get all whowho, I am not slamming all hunters, just the KILLERS; I object to "hunting" that is essentially killing domesticated animals for "sport". Just ask the poaching "hunters" we get around here from time to time. (*I* am at least sporting in that I will give them a 30 second head start after I find them on our land, although I have been known to threaten the more egregious killers among them with hanging their "rack" on my family room wall.)

Kerry is a pathetic political whore, and RIGHT ON to anyone that calls him on it. Gettin' even for the geese, dam straight!

Honk if you love Bush!

Bush said today, " He can put on the camo and try to run from his record, but he cannot hide!"

I did e-mail and register my unhapiness. actaully, i do find it very sad he'd most likely use birds not in the wild just for a photo op.

I called the Skerry Campaign and flat out asked them what the deal was about killing the goose yesterday. Told them no spin, no other issues, I just wanted to know about this. I also told them before they answered that I was very aware about what hunting entails and that you tended to go out early in the morning and stayed there all day and not just the short time he was there.

WELL the Kerry campaign told me well there was a reason the camera was there and IT WAS to counteract those scum sucking (I added those words, they used others but it was about what they said) NRA people and he needed to get out there and show the men that he was a real hunter too. So, he said, we did do it specifically for political purposes.

I turned around and called PETA again (and did not lie) but told them what the Kerry campaign told me and boy were they PO'd. They said that they had a group working on this right now and that I was not the only person who had called on this and that they have been receiving numerous phone calls on this issue. From the way it sounds, it is not just a hunting issue now with them, but I think what is ticking them off the most is using these helpless animals to further his campaign.

This may just be something that may cost Kerry alot of votes. Sad, no one should have voted for him because he is a traitor.

I spent many years hunting before I was injured and had to give it up. I am still an avid fisherman however. I agree with others in this forum that showing up on your personal jet somewhere you don't know anyone, someone else giving you the equipment and taking you out in the early AM and scaring a flock of sitting geese in a cornfield over your head is not hunting. It is killing, and for a political purpose.
The guys I hunted with were real men, if you shot it, you go get it and carry it. Kerry is just a wussy.
I love all animals, and am careful about what I take as game or fish to be sure it isn't wasted. Nothing bothers me more than greedy or wasteful people. I hope Peta does make a big deal over this, although I have very little time for that group otherwise. In my neck of the woods they stand for People Eating Tasty Animals.

who ever ordered that photo op may be looking for a new job.

peta responded to my e-mail right away and said they did not take political sides but encourged me to call the candidate and find out what there stance is and that it will effect my vote. It looked to be a form letter.

And why, may I ask, was this comment not truthful? I felt the very same way when I saw that heartless picture of those people with the dead geese slung over their shoulder. In my opinion that "photo op" for Kerry did him more harm than good.

Sweet heart you need to go back and check, I did not post that. I replied to it and disagreed with it. Rolling Eyes

I think it is funny as he11! If it had been Bush they would have already had a media field day. Why not get them to speak up about this. "unless you are an animal rights activist", Why does it have to be that? I like animals, I hunt, and I think it is a same to kill something your not going to eat. How do you ask a goose to be the last goose to die for a shameless campaign photo op

As a Conservative, and also PETA member, I do not need to fake being mad about this whole thing.

Once again, I have no problems with other people hunting, although in an ideal world I would prefer this not to happen, but at the same time this is an issue that spans beyond one dimension of cheap rhetorics, WHat BOTHERS me here is the fact that Kerry is trying to cash in the animal rights votes, while at the same time he panders to hunters and outdoorsmen as being the ewquivalent of Buffalo Bill.

Kerry is a spineless ******* with NO principles. I am sure the president would have no problems listening to my arguments against animals and for a pro-vegetarian lifestyle, while not backing away from his own stance to pander to me, but Skerry would simply fake his deepest agreement with me.

I wrote a longer article today in a vegan magazine. It iwll be interesting to see if they print it, but I have backed up my arguments well nad rather pointed to the liberal double-standards and lack of backbones for their so-called "ideology".

Time will tell.
