John Kerry, from the second Presidential debate

"Well, let me tell you straight up: I've never changed my mind about Iraq. I do believe Saddam Hussein was a threat. I always believed he was a threat."

and then, five minutes later.........

"And what's interesting is, it's a threat that has grown while the president has been preoccupied with Iraq, where there wasn't a threat."

Pop quiz. Who said this?

"It appears that with the deadline for exile come and gone, Saddam Hussein has chosen to make military force the ultimate weapons inspections enforcement mechanism. If so, the only exit strategy is victory, this is our common mission and the world's cause. We're in this together. We want to complete the mission while safeguarding our troops, avoiding innocent civilian casualties, disarming Saddam Hussein and engaging the community of nations to rebuild Iraq."

If you said GWB, you'd be wrong.

This was on John Kerry's website circa April 2003. Take a look for yourself - just click on the April 2, 2003 link on this page:

http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://johnkerry.com

Compare that with Kerry in September 2004:

CANONSBURG, Pa. (Reuters) - Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry on Monday called the invasion of Iraq "the wrong war in the wrong place at the wrong time" and said his goal was to withdraw U.S. troops in a first White House term.

And then in the first debate actually said:

"I’ve had one position, one consistent position, that Saddam Hussein was a threat. There is a right way to disarm him and a wrong way. And the president chose the wrong way."

So at first, Kerry acknowledges that Saddam was the one who "chose" military force. But then it was the wrong war at the wrong place at the wrong time. But his position has always been consistent.

I'm glad I could help clear this up for everyone.

My daughter was standing here as I was reading this thread.
She didn't get the Koolaid remark.
I must be gettin' old.
Jonestown was before her time. She's 20.
