Rush Limbaugh was all over this phony story yesterday way before NBC fessed up that they had a embedded reporter on site when are troops arrived.

The NYT has become the mouthpiece for the Kerry Campaign. They are coordinating with the Kerry Campaign to do as much damage to GW as possible.

They write the stories on the Front page and kerry spouts off about how GW is responsible.

IMHO-The MSM is responsible for about 20 points for the Kerry campaign.

380 Tons of Explosives Missing in Iraq

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,136466,00.html

The only problem is that there were no munitions there when the UN inspectors visited on March 8,2003, two weeks before the war started.

It appears CBS had planned to do the so-called missing explosives story for 60 Minutes on Sunday, in a last ditch bid to derail Bush's election chances but got scooped by NYT.

Time to start the letter writing campaign again to CBS news executives about their partisan bias, and how they apparently did not learn the lessons of Rathergate. This is truly a scandal.

From Powerline:
The Wretchard piece captures the real story here, and it doesn't favor John Kerry. Hugh Hewitt explains why: The explosives were gone by the time we arrived because we wasted months trying to persuade countries like France to support our military action. Kerry's position is that he voted for military action only so that the president could engage in this lengthy dance. He also says we should have danced longer, giving Saddam the opportunity to move more weapons. In Wretchard's words, "The price of passing the Global Test' was very high; and having been gypped once, there are some who are still eager to be taken to the cleaners again."

Looks like Drudge is getting DoS or slashdotted to death. His site isn't coming up for me (peer resets).

This is a GOOD sign.

Rush, on the radio now, is providing a perfect analysis of this story. The transcript, when available on his site, will probably be heralded as one of his best ever.

I am mystified by this story and further convinced it is proof positive John Kerry is not fit to be the president. He does not understand the basic fundamentals surrounding this story and thus, WMD in general, thus defending our nation from a very dynamic foe.... terrorists.

The reason these explosives were ever inventoried by the IAE... in the first place was they were a integral component to a WMD.... a Nuclear Detonator.

These explosives were moved by Hussein in defiance of the Armistice from the Kuwait war. Today and the day Iraq was liberated these component parts of the most horific of WMD's was missing.

Scott Ritter, and Hans Blix had been keeping track of this stuff for all the worlds safety.

Well Why would Kerry bring this up.... this is proof positive of the presence of WMD's in Iraq.... at least 380 tons of it. The DNC and Dan Rather, K COuric and the rest of the useful idiots brigade having been saying since the day Iraq was liberated (the same day these explosives turned up missing).... there were no WMD's

Well either there were or there were not. Kerry sets himself up by taking so many diverse stands on all issues that he ends up contradicting himself at least 50% of the time.

I can't keep up with all the threads discussing the same thing, so I'll post here what I just posted in another thread.

The duplicity of MSM in all this is, I think, much bigger than you think.

The NYT's story yesterday broke as if it were big and new. Now CBS is implicated in it, with the suggestion that they were going to run the same story. CNN has come out relatively unscathed since they seem to have taken the lead today in pointing out the errors in the NYT story.

But if you will go back to a previous thread in this same forum:

http://www2.swiftvets.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=12638

you will see Rdtf, one of our members, observed that CNN was reporting the basic same story on 12 Oct. Only on 12 October, though it was essentially the same story, it didn't have quite the same spin. On 12 Oct the emphasis was not on the missing explosives.

The CNN story probably came from a Reuters story dated 11 Oct:

http://www.reuters.com/newsArticle.jhtml;jsessionid=JZT450JCHO4BSCRBAE0CFEY?type=worldNews&storyID=6470463

But it was not even a new story on 11 Oct. As Rdtf pointed out there was an almost identical World Tribune story dated 11 June:

http://www.worldtribune.com/worldtribune/breaking_1.html

So as you can see, the basic story is not, and has not been, anything new. It was known to all the media from at least mid-June. But the story, as reported from mid-June until mid-October, apparently did not get traction, nor was it spun in such a way to have maximum impact on the election. What is new is the way the NYT (and CBS?) spun the story yesterday to make it seem like it was new, breaking, signifcant news, with a new twist - the missing explosives vs. the missing WMD.

And why do you suppose you haven't heard any of this history of a news story from anybody in MSM?

I agree with Papa Yolk, a well done to NBC is in order. Even though I hate them too, a pat on the back could go a long way. We all know a reporters ego is bigger than any loyalties they might have. This could spur some of them on to gain status by busting some of these bogus reports.

I called the NY Times.

The International News Desk person said "they are sticking by their story based on the facts they have."

Weren't there LLL threats to sue Sinclair Broadcasting for showing the ex-POW's testimony?

LAWSUIT TIME

against the NY Times
