I predicted this was what the media was going to do back on Oct.12
thread. Thought it would happen before this, but of course CBS
held it til closer to the electon.

My posts from that thread:

This could be bad.

This news is coming from Reuters and CNN (Leftist Anti-American).
They are saying this was equipment and material that U.N. Inspectors
Dismantled and tagged years ago. In other words we already knew
it was there. Inspectors were forced to leave Iraq. After we invaded Iraq. the U.S. {i.e Bush Administration) barred the return of inspectors
after the war, preventing IAEA from keeping tabs on this equipment
and materials. U.S. occupation authority and then the new Interim Government of Iraq were responsible for it. Raises question whether
they--i.e. Bush administration were unable to monitor this site.

This is now at U.N. Security Councill (i.e. our good friends- France,
Germany, et al).
They are going to slam President Bush for another screw-up.
I can hear it now. I think they will say its Bush's fault.
I only pray that I am wrong.

Okay, I've had time to think about this.
The MSM and U.N. are playing this to hurt Bush.

First of all, this is not newly discovered nuclear material and equipment. It is part of Saddam's nuclear program abandoned after the 1st Gulf War. He had intentions to restart the program at some time in the future.

The material and equipment had been tagged by the inspectors years
ago, and they continued to monitor it until they were forced out before
the U.S. invasion in 2003. Bush barred U.N. inspectors from returning,
and used our teams to search for WMD.
The UN teams were allowed into Iraq in June 2003 to investigate and take inventory due to widespread looting. After that they kept track of it by satellite images.

I think the MSM and U.N. are playinga game to hurt Bush.

The press had a field day last week with te Duelfer Report. All they
talked about was NO WMDs for days. Hah! They GOT BUSH!
They completely ignored the part of the report that Saddam retained the capacity to quickly restart his nuclear program and could have a nuke.

Now that all that hubbub has died down, they come out with O MY Gosh,
the stuff has disappeared!
Sure, they have to admit THAT OTHER PART of the report now, but
it's overshadowed by the panic that the"material has disappeared!"
"We don't know who has it!!"
and then they beat up Bush AGAIN because of incompetence.
They've made a double whammy out of it!

My question is --how long has ElBaradei been holding this information.
and just now releasing it?

DO you guys know what this means? If THIS is their so called October surprise and what they had to do was to dig up an old story and re-spin it and lie about it to make Bush look bad, this means that THIS IS ALL THEY'VE GOT. They got NUTTIN on Bush that's new. They are so desperate that they're having to get the MSM to blatantly LIE about an old story just to have something negative to say about Bush. The Dems are nuckin futs if they think anybody is gonna swallow this.

BWAHAHAHA!

This is great.

Did ya hear? Bush is AHEAD in the polls in HAWAII for crying out pete sakes! Laughing HAWAII !!! It usually goes 80/20 to the Dems.

Oh happy day. Very Happy

yep you sure did. And, they were all in cahoots to sit on it til election eve. Does anyone need more proof of their conspiracy?! Maybe, just maybe, there is smart fair play and the same conspiracy exists to run the 42 documents story this weekend. And the possible less than honorable discharge. And the meetings in Paris. And Kerry's cousin Forbes huge rebuild vietnam contract. Or Kerry and Clinton letting all those lost prisoners of war be forgotten. And Kerry's brother going to jail for playing dirty pool during Kerry's first run for office.
Whew. But I am still hopeful.

I was thinking the same thing - unless they went ahead and leaked it because they have something better for election eve.

Like Rush said, they've decided to take off their masks of being fair and balanced and go for broke. They're scared to death. THey know they've lost their monopoly but they don't know what to do about it.

This is great. Now the NYT and the Kerry campaign can both go down in heap. Man, these people are scary they're so delusional.

Just a word of caution...

I've been reading a few analysis points on some other sites. One reason the NYT may have fired away and pre-empted CBS with the story is because they have more "ammo" to shoot in the coming days.

If the MSM is willing to be this blatant about destroying any semblence of honesty they have left I fear what these last few campaign days--not to mention the future of news in general--may hold.

Everyone get ready...even if Bush wins, this fight is only beginning.

Rush just played a clip from the debates. Kerry said something about our soldiers being killed by exp. stolen from an ammo dump. HE KNEW ABOUT THIS STORY! Rush is nailing him to the wall.

Listen: STREAMING AUDIO

Rush has done a fantastic job of debunking the whole story today. If anyone didn't get to listen, he spent pretty much the whole show presenting information on how this story is totally bogus.

Great job, Rush.

If they did have this material before the war, wouldn't they be considered WMD to begin with? I mean after all it has been widely reported that it only takes one pound of this stuff to bring down a plane. So if when the military got to the site and the UN seals had been removed doesn't that prove that there were WMD in Iraq and Saddam had them removed? If they did fall into terrorists hands isn't this exactly why Bush said it was necessary to remove Saddam from power.

In an exclusive interview with The Telegraph, Dr Kay, who last week resigned as head of the Iraq Survey Group, said that he had uncovered evidence that unspecified materials had been moved to Syria shortly before last year's war to overthrow Saddam.
"We are not talking about a large stockpile of weapons," he said. "But we know from some of the interrogations of former Iraqi officials that a lot of material went to Syria before the war, including some components of Saddam's WMD programme. Precisely what went to Syria, and what has happened to it, is a major issue that needs to be resolved."
