Russia tied to Iraq´s missing arms; Pentagon: Weaponry relocated before war
GERTZ // THURSDAY // WASH TIMES: Russian special forces troops moved many of Saddam Hussein's weapons and related goods out of Iraq and into Syria in the weeks before the March 2003 U.S. military operation, The Washington Times has learned. John A. Shaw, the deputy undersecretary of defense for international technology security, said in an interview that he believes the Russian troops, working with Iraqi intelligence, “almost certainly” removed the high-explosive material that went missing from the Al-Qaqaa facility, south of Baghdad. |
I just heard on Fox while watching Greta that tomorrow it will hit the fan. Russia moved the explosives into Syria for Saddam.
What will skerry say now?????? FOOT IN MOUTH DISEASE!!!!!!! |

I wonder if there is any connection between this and Putin's endorsement of Pres. Bush? _________________ www.moorewatch.com

Anybody think this story is Karl Rove's "October Surprise"? Bet he realized how Kerry would react if some bait was thrown out to him. Kerry went for it hook, line and sinker. Now lets see how he gets played. For my money, he's a goner. GWB is going to land him, filet him, and cook him! Anyone for a platter of Kerry-fried rice?? |

Actually that scoop is potentially more devastating than the Russia scoop. Kerry spent 3 days going negative over 10 tons of explosives. the fact that Russia might have had them is just gravy. _________________ John Kerry, R.I.P. (Rot In Paris) |

I think his goose is cooked. The idiot badmouthed the military AGAIN during wartime. Now the hurt is NOW and fresh. If there was an undecided vet he isn't any more. |

Here is my 2 cents. Pres. Bush and the Administration have known all along where the WMD's went. We have been watching them and the plans after the election were to go after them. The NYT story and the attempt to sway the election have forced them to move the information forward a few weeks. Watch what happens now.''sKerry, Syria and Russia will be toast soon. _________________ DenisC

The sheer genius of this story is that the MSM has no choice but to cover it. If Carl Rove did this, he has proven why he is considered to be the undisputed champion of campaign genius! |

I agree. BTW that is "3" tons of explosives. This will be easier for the general public to digest ...the difference between 380 tons and 3 tons is dramatic. Really makes Kerry look like a guy who can be easily duped. A real loose cannon. I thought that is what Bush is supposed to be. Rush to war and all that. _________________ NEED SOME WOOD? |

jim_nyc, the ABC article states that the HMX explosives were still at Al Qa Qaa...197 tons not 3 tons
The tonnage is still dropping though _________________ www.moorewatch.com

I agree with this assessment as well. Early in the war Powell was on TV rattling sabers at Syria. These guys play their cards close to the vest. They are real grown up geopolitical strategists. All they needed was this little opening and now the media is going to tell their story for them. This does not feel like a premeditated campaign stunt. It looks like a stunt played out of desperation on the part of the NYT, CBS, UN and Kerry kids that has backfired in their face. _________________ NEED SOME WOOD? |

I just noticed something, here is a paragragh from the Wash Times article:
The Pentagon disclosed yesterday that the Al-Qaqaa facility was defended by Fedayeen Saddam, Special Republican Guard and other Iraqi military units during the conflict. U.S. forces defeated the defenders around April 3 and found the gates to the facility open, the Pentagon said in a statement yesterday
The Saddam Fedayeen had ties to Al Qaeda, this paragraph is from www.husseinandterror.com
Then there is the interesting case of Ahmad Hikmat Shakir — an Iraqi VIP facilitator who worked at the international airport in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Citing "a foreign government service," page 340 of the Senate Intelligence Committee's report on pre-Iraq-War intelligence indicates that, "Shakir claimed he got this job through Ra'ad al-Mudaris, an Iraqi Embassy employee" in Malaysia. On January 5, 2000, Shakir greeted Khalid al Midhar and Nawaz al Hamzi at Kuala Lampur’s airport. He then escorted them to a local hotel where these September 11 hijackers met with 9/11 conspirators Ramzi bin al Shibh and Tawfiz al Atash. Five days later, according to The Weekly Standard’s Stephen Hayes, Shakir disappeared. 19
Shakir, the Iraqi airport greeter, was arrested in Qatar on September 17, 2001. On his person and in his apartment, authorities discovered documents connecting him to the 1993 WTC bomb plot and “Operation Bojinka,” al-Qaeda’s 1995 plan to blow up 12 jets simultaneously over the Pacific. Interestingly enough, as a May 27, 2004 Wall Street Journal editorial reported, Ahmed Hikmat Shakir's name appears on three different rosters of the late Uday Hussein's prestigious paramilitary group, the Saddam Fedayeen. A government source told the Journal that the papers identify Shakir as a lieutenant colonel in the Saddam Fedayeen. |

True that ...my bad....but talk about incompetent.....the IAEA #1 allowed Sadamm to have this explosives when they should not have....and then #2 simply put little medallions on bunkers full of deadly explosives.. that had easily accessible vents that made even those rediculous little medallions even more useless than they are. Exposing Kerry for the fool that he is to trust the UN paper pushers over the millitary might of the United States.
The ABC story is so easy for the average Joe (me)...to grasp in the time normally allowed for a TV broadcast. _________________ NEED SOME WOOD? |
