So, now Schilling has decided to cancel his campaign with the president in NH. And he has now apologized from saying. "vote for Bush" on TV two days ago. I don't get it.
It seems money matters. So, well, what's the difference! To me he doesn't have any courage AT ALL!! We missed Pat Tilmann. He didn't campaign with the president, but he fought for liberty, not for money.

So Boston Red Sox star pitcher Curt Schilling canceled his scheduled cam paign appearance in New Hampshire yesterday with President Bush.
Was that his idea?
Schilling says he had no choice, because he's "not medically cleared to do anything" until he sees a doctor Sunday about his injured tendon.
Maybe the Bosox didn't want to antagonize Boston's hometown senator (who'll still be a force on Capitol Hill, even if he loses next Tuesday). Or maybe the team's part-owners — the Bush-bashing New York Times — were heard from.
John Kerry must be relieved — ever since Schilling announced that he was a Bush-backer, the Democrats have been searching for the guy their candidate, a self-proclaimed Red Sox fanatic, once identified as his favorite team member: Manny Ortez. (Don't bother checking the roster — there is no such player.)
Meanwhile, Schilling also apologized for endorsing President Bush during an interview on national TV — though not for his support of the president.
"While I hope to see him re-elected, it's not my place, nor the time, for me to offer up my political opinions unsolicited," he said in a Web-site e-mail.
If only all those left-wing loonies out in Hollywood felt the same way.

I'd wager he has a clause in his contract that qualifies or restricts his ability to comment publicly on contemporary hot-button issues. |

I guess if he signed a contract with that in it, he is supressing his own free speech. I would imagine that a clause like that could and should be able to be challenged. |

Sorry to hear about this. Wish we could have afforded to keep him in Phoenix.
The sub-clauses in the these stadium agreements and all the TV, Radio, Newspaper rights is disgusting, but then that's why he gets paid big bucks. |

Because his answer about not being "medically cleared" seems disingenous, it really puts a stain on his "christain message". |

Exactly. NH could be critical, and Schilling could potentially bring some help. It is not so much of electing W than preserving traditional values and protecting America. And both are priceless. Given his status as one of the team aces, he should be having more power to negotiate. I still don't get it, while hollywood people are lining up to bash Bush and support Kerry openly.

Although I know what a great pitcher he is, I never liked Schilling.
I am a terrible Braves fan, and, when he was with Philadelphia and
Arizona, he ALWAYS beat the Braves. I was glad when he went to
the AL so that we would not have to play him so often. My feelings
about him are now MUCH more positive. I think you have to give
him a break on this. The Hollywood left does not have to answer
to anybody but their fans and it takes time for a negative response
to their actions to cause any change in their behavior. A professional
ball player does not have the freedom to offer any opinion that differs
from that of the management which is obviously pro-Kerry. He can
not be viewed as representing the BoSox when he encourages others
to vote for Bush. The medical clearance thing probably is true. The
team would have to approve any travel or other activities, which, of
course, they would not do. Still, all of the fans heard what he said
and know that he support Bush, so the episode is a net positive IMO.
