That's the funny thing about rising democrat stars...

They have to hide the way they vote to make them palatable for the national stage.

Obama is a very, very smooth operator, and a very likeable candidate.

He'll go far, it's hard to say how far. He's secured a senate seat. That's pretty far!

His last name was Ryan....everyone got Jack Ryan and him confused...was it George Ryan...I just can not remember his first name...darn it. But got Rod Blogovish (sp) in as governor because he was the worst republican governor the state ever saw....very, very corrupt and gave all the death row inmates a stay. Sad how one person can ruin it for all of us!

I heard him say that the Democrats need to stand up for what they believe in even if they lose the fight...just stand for something and stick to it.

I remember the license for bribes scandal the most because of that family that got killed up on the I-94 (?) in WI by a truck driver...that truck driver (if I remember correctly) had one of those drivers licenses he bought from the DMV...

Yep, the Republican party here is pretty much in shambles. And I have a feeling Obama is going to do more harm than good...maybe it's time for me to move to a true red state. Smile

I've lived in the 11th District for 22 years, that's Weller's district. It is a 50/50 district. the collar counties can bury lil Dick if they have the right canidate. And the rest of the state can win any electrion, look at Fitzpatrick. Keyes is to the right but you won't have to guess where he stands. He's a man with a great heart. He's one that would cover the grenade. The State GOP are country club GOPers, which is part of the problem. Judy Barr T does her best but they need a house cleaning. Denny Hasert won't push it tho either but is a wonderful rep.

Senator (elect) Obama has just had the curse put on him. We know something about curses here in Boston.

This country hasn't elected a senator to the presidency since JFK (the real one), although many have tried, both in the primaries, and as their party's nominee. If you sat in a bar and drank a beer for every senator who lusted after the Oval Office, you'd be drunk before you got to 1976.

However, unlike the current flavor of the month (sKerry), this Senator(elect) did get into Harvard. Come to think of it, so did Teddy Kennedy.

Obama could end up being the John Edwards of 2008 (hopefully, with the same result).

Barak Obama is a brilliant, well educated, well-spoken black fella--Jack Ryan would have at least had a chance against him but after he withdrew, Obama was, for all intents and purposes, running unopposed--(By the way, it wasn't really the Dems, in the end, who killed Ryan's candidacy--It was the Chicago Tribune that filed a FOIA case in California to have his divorce papers made public--Yes.......that's right.......the Trib--The same Trib that eventually endorsed Bush--Go figure)--

He's a rising star in the Democrat party and I don't think he's going away any time soon--But I agree wholeheartedly with clpeters23 that he's way outside the mainstream and if not an outright socialist, he's darned close to it--Also "100% pro-choice" (his words), including supporting partial birth abortion--Ick!!--We can only hope that he will moderate with age--

And, as some of the others from Illinois said, and although my deeply fundamentalist sister in Texas is furious with me for it, I couldn't make myself vote for Alan Keyes either--I do believe him to be a decent and moral man and all that, but he's beyond the mainstream in the other direction and has some points of view that are way too conservative even for me (and I'm pretty much an extremist)--Couldn't go there--So I wrote-in the rightful Republican candidate, Jack Ryan, and I felt good about it--

I see that Phil Crane lost tonight, too---Too bad that Illinois lost another Republican congressman--I'm just glad that I live in Henry Hyde's district--They'll have to wait for him to die to get him out of office and even then, I wouldn't be surprised if Du Page County kept electing him just from force of habit--LOL!!--C
