Got my newsletter from Military-Brats.com today and they had an excellent list of Organizations that help our troops (links included).

Here is the link:

Thanks all!

I found this on a blog and they invite sharing with everyone.

Also, let me point out the very last column on the above web site.
It features a list of items for the WOUNDED veterans also.

Please consider one or both of the ideas listed on these two places.
Not much time for action.
Thanks,
Mary Ann

Finally, from a naval officer I respect a great deal, an e-mail on how to aid wounded troops in the two weeks left before Christmas:
"Yellow ribbons tied around trees and red, white and blue
stickers on the backs SUVs saying "Support our Troops"
are things that make civilians feel good but do nothing
for the men and women actually in uniform.
So please consider the following:

The number ONE request at Walter Reed hospital is phone cards.
The government doesn't pay long distance phone charges and these wounded soldiers are rationing their calls home.
Many will be there throughout the holidays.

Really support our troops --Send phone cards of any amount to:
Medical Family Assistance Center
Walter Reed Medical Center
6900 Georgia Avenue, NW
Washington, DC 20307-5001

They say they need an "endless" supply of these -- any amount even $5 is greatly appreciated.
Walmart has good prices on AT&T cards, Sams Club is even better, if you are a member.
I am sure you would feel better about doing this, than to buy something for a third cousin,
that would find it on the closet shelf six months later, and wonder where it came from.

Please pass this portion on, copy and paste it into your e-mail."

To help out the bump to keep this up on top, but also to add a story to this; Did you see Bill O'Reilly the other night when they had the story about the Wounded Warrior project? After he finished talking to these guys, I swear I thought I saw his face and it was about as close to tears as I have ever seen without actually breaking down. Last night he got e-mails saying how the viewers were sending donations in to help. So, as much as we can get upset about some things O'Reilly does, you know he does support our troops. When I saw him after the interview, my first thought was that he was definitely going to be supporting that group with a nice little contribution as I could see how moved he was.

Thanks for the list, it helped me find the group I want to support; the Soldiers Angel site. I like the fact that they not only take money donations, but blankets, shoes, and also items for the military families back home.

On the drive to work this morning, Laura Ingraham was auctioning off a Navy Seal Sig(?) gun that is a collectors item. I didn't catch the name of the charity, but the money goes to help military children. From the little bit I heard, it sounds like a great organization.

Bump! Who cares if it's a holiday or not...support the troops 24/7!

and yes, I understand particular significance of supporting during the holidays, when many service members may be down...I would just like to see year-round support!
