The IVAW, child of the VVAW: just checking in on these folks -- and here they go again. Peace & Justice Coalition, of course:

National Anti-War Rally and IVAW Meeting
March 19th and 20th, 2005
Fayetteville, North Carolina

Quote:
"Join us in the home of Fort Bragg for a weekend of networking, training, and raising our voices to demand real support for our troops by bringing them home now......"

"support our troops"---"bring them home"... something is missing in that chant -- how is bringing our soldiers home while they are busy winning a war translate into support for them? I would respect these people more if they just simply stated their real agenda: pull back and dismantle the US military and lose this war, please.

(Hope there are some protestwarriors out and about in NC to greet them)

Free Republic counter-protests war protesters

The North Carolina chapter of the Free Republic is holding a counter protest.

The group will be across the street from the peace demonstrators. The Free Republic was one of three groups to hold counter-demonstrations at last year's peace rally.

They claim it's important to have a presence there that day.

Lynn Huber said, "We want people to know that these anti-war protests do not represent the will of the American people. They do not represent common sense. And they do not make sense for American victory."

The picket permit filed by the Free Republic estimates they will have between 150 and 200 people at their counter-demonstration.
and one of our Mods - Bob Chamberlain will be joining up with the freepers

So what do you do when you missed the sixties, never smoked a doobie, didn't make it to Woodstock or were in diapers at the time. You bandwagon with a bunch of us left over sixties types and join a protest for or against the war. Put that in your pipe and smoke it you peaceniks.

By the way I couldn't think of a more appropriate site than Fayettenam, NC. What a shot in the arm for the local economy and a guarantee all those Korean Bars will be hoppin that weekend.

Do you think John Kerry will make an special appearance to join in or judge the medal toss competition? Gee I hope so, then we get to see a bunch of Army troops ignore him.

Cool Cool Cool

By the way what do they mean by networking? Is that like a love in?

Is there a pool on how many Bush effigies and US flags will be burned?

Lets hope they bring fire extinguishers with them..... a interesting legal conundrum..... would it be assault if a protest warier extinguished a illegal fire? In most cities and towns you can't legally just start a fire whenever and where ever you like....

So who would get the ticket? the guy burning the flag and effigy or a guy putting the fire out???

Can you logically argue for freedom of expression to include having illegal fires as part of your statement? I know the AClU could, and likely win by using that California supreme court... but in reality I think the logic falls the other way.

Well this looks to be a entertaining encounter.

'High Noon' in the Carolinas...... Can't wait to see video, hoping no one gets hurt.

Whiskey Jack:

Without a doubt, the 9th Circus Court in California would rule against any policeman or fireman who tried to enforce the firecode and deprive the dimwit of his right to burn a US flag. Burning a Swatiska or Hammer n' Sickle would be a hate crime....Don't ya love it?

Now, if the dimwits lit themselves instead of flags they'ld get my attention. But, it's been so long; do you extinguish a 'Screaming Alfa Fire' with CO2 or just toss it over the side?

Hooray for the freepers! – so glad they’ll be there!!

I looked in at the ProtestWarrior site (don’t know if any of them will be at this particular counter protest) and watched an ugly and threatening little film made by ANSWER against the ProtestWarriors – sending their names, addresses, etc., out onto the internet -- essentially an intimidation campaign, “targeting” them personally:

Quote:
protestwarrior.com: 02/18/05 - A Study in Contrast

We have two new videos that present an apt comparison to the character of each side.

ANSWER's answer to Liberty Rising, this “film” is devoid of any intellectual content and only has pictures of our Chicago chapter members with their personal info superimposed. In case you missed its theatrical run on Indymedia, we've decided to host it ourselves (with the personal info removed of course). Watch it and you'll also understand why socialist countries produce no art.

Our Central Florida chapter launched their own version of Liberty Rising and created a polished primer on what ProtestWarrior is all about.

Reference above to ProtestWarrior’s film “Liberty Rising” was their 10/19/04 film “chronicling ProtestWarrior’s battle fighting the left at the RNC” - check it out (scroll down – under “Operation Hail to the Chief”): hq.protestwarrior.com

(Includes, among other confrontations, PWs protesting outside the Peace and Justice Coalition office. PWs: “Just be honest – you hate America. If I was a socialist, I would hate America, too. Just be honest for once…… you are the new fascists, you are the new brown shirts..…. We’ve got the right to protest you, too. So get used to us, we’re not going away….”)

The courage and tenacity of these young people in confronting the monopoly the Left has had for so long on “organizing the American street” is inspiring! Such a large task for so few to take on…

BTW, the commies are running this protest all over on the 19th. Not sure of all the cities, but Los Angeles and WashDC for sure. I would bet my life that San Francisco will have one too.

Hi Uisguex Jack,
I hope you don't mind me piping in here, but I did find this website of quotations by H. L. Mencken:

http://www.quotationspage.com/quotes/H._L._Mencken

which contains the quote in question.
Hope this helps! Very Happy

Michelle Malkin on this weekend's "moonbats r' us" infestation...

With freedom on the move across the Middle East and beyond, aggrieved anti-war protesters here in the United States have nothing better to do this weekend than what they have always done: stand in the way.

The most unhinged of left-wing activists, from breast-exposing pacifists to the conspiracy-mongers of MoveOn.org, will descend on New York, Washington and other major media markets to "mark the two-year anniversary of the U.S. bombing and invasion of Iraq." They will do so by clogging the streets, tying up police resources and leaving behind a trail of anti-Bush propaganda litter.

Who says the Left doesn't know how to create jobs?

In New York, the "Troops Out Now Coalition" plans to march on Saturday from Harlem to Central Park to Mayor Michael Bloomberg's home to demonstrate against the "occupation." Their solution for helping the Iraqi people and demonstrating American leadership: Cut and run. Now!

You can guarantee there will not be a single sign of purple ink solidarity in sight, but the dictator-luvin' ladies of Code Pink who prance around in pastel underwear will be out in full force.

Along the way, the marchers will stop to harass workers at a local military recruiting station. Yes, these are the supposed peaceniks who derive pleasure from ripping yellow ribbon magnets off of minivans and throwing rocks through ROTC campus offices. These are the acolytes of Michael Moore, who compares Iraqi head-choppers to American Revolutionary war heroes.

"Oppose the war, support the troops"? Bull.

It's on the internet, so it MUST be true, no? Shocked
