As a ex Michigander I do not find this unusual

A storm warning also was issued for northern lower Michigan.

The city and surrounding communities were expected to get five to eight inches of snow through Sunday evening. Smith said accumulation would be confined mostly to grassy surfaces until the evening, when there could be snow on the roads as well. Overnight temperatures in Detroit were expected to drop to around 30 degrees.
It was unclear how far west the storm would travel. A winter storm watch was issued for Lansing and Grand Rapids. |
