Hillary Clinton Book Rushed Into Print;
Vanity Fair Excerpts Book

Quote:
NewsMax has learned that a new book about Hillary Clinton is being rushed into print months ahead of schedule and Vanity Fair magazine has excerpted the book in its latest edition.

After NewsMax broke the story about it contents, Hillary Clinton has already lashed out at the book, calling it "pure fiction."

Hillary has good reason to be worried about this book.

Publishing insiders say the book and its revelations could destroy her bid to run for the presidency in 2008.

The tell-all book by Edward Klein, "The Truth About Hillary: What She Knew, When She Knew It, and How Far She'll Go to Become President," was originally slated for publication in September.

[Editor's Note: NewsMax will be among the first to offer this book – reserve your copy and our FREE offer – Click Here Now.]

But the publisher, the Sentinel imprint of the Penguin Group, has moved up the publication date to June 21 due to the "intense interest and speculation" generated by several media reports on the book, Sentinel spokesman Will Weisser told NewsMax.com.

Vanity Fair will beat the embargo with a special excerpt due out in June.

The Vanity Fair excerpt reveals that Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihan and his wife had an intense hatred of Hillary. The Moynihans believed that Hillary regularly lied and could not be trusted.

The Drudge Report sparked interest in the book with an online story quoting a source close to author Klein as saying, "The revelations in it should sink her candidacy."

The online report created a storm of interest in "The Truth About Hillary" on talk radio, the Web, and cable chat shows.

MSNBC's Joe Scarborough claimed, "Its contents are top secret, but the sources say the revelations inside could torpedo Hillary Clinton's chances at a run at the White House."

The Washington Times followed with a report claiming the book will make new, nasty revelations about Hillary.

"Rumors that the book 'won't be pretty' and is brimming with 'new dirt' have circulated in the New York press for the past four months," the Times said.

The book's sensational revelations about Sen. Clinton -- including new details of her personal life never before made public -- may be difficult for her spin operation to torpedo.

Author Klein is no conservative hatchet man. He's the former editor in chief of The New York Times Magazine and author of the "The Kennedy Curse," "Farewell, Jackie" and several other best sellers.

Klein came under fire, however, for "The Kennedy Curse," a book about JFK Jr. that delved into the personal lives of John and his wife, Carolyn, detailing extramarital affairs and drug use.

A source familiar with Klein's book said his Hillary book will similarly offer a rare and provocative glimpse into the personal lives of the Clintons.

Promotional material released by the publisher of the 336-page Hillary Clinton book states: "Just as the Swift Boat Veterans convinced millions of voters that John Kerry lacked the character to be president, Klein's book will influence everyone who is sizing up the character of Hillary Clinton."

The promo discloses that Klein "draws on rare access to inside sources to reveal what Hillary knew and when she knew it during her years as first lady, especially during her husband's impeachment.

"It will also prove that she lied to America in her best-selling autobiography 'Living History.'"

The more I see about this book, the more I believe it is trash.
As much as I hope something will doom Hillary's ambitions, I think she will benefit if it is trash. She will play the victim role that she does so well, and drum up a lot of sympathy.

That's sort of what I'm starting to fear, too. I was looking forward to this book, but IMO, there is some really trashy stuff in there that (as much as I detest all things Bill-&-Hillary) should NEVER, EVER, EVER be published.

"American Evita" and "Rewriting History" did a very thorough job of eviscerating Hillary's presidential hopes if only people would read and heed, and those books do it with truth.

They didn't resort to National Enquirer (I gave birth to an alien's baby!) type of reporting.

I'm still going to buy the book - I will buy anything anti-Hillary - but I'm not as jazzed about it as I was when I first heard about it.

I'm so afraid that you may be right - that it will be so purely salacious that it will enable Hillary to put on the martyr's mantle.

What we need to watch for is if he is a Liberal hatchet man.

Like the claims against Hanoi Jane, a good way to make sheeple believe the truth is a lie is to heavily pepper the truth with lies and then expose them as lies. The very same could happen here and catapult her into the Presidency.

The timing of this also bothers me. Why three years before the election, if it's supposed to end her bid? Wouldn't it work better in early 2008, if that's the purpose?

Once read, I would quote this book very carefully. Sounds like a set up to me.

You got it, Lew!!!
Ed Klein is a Lib former editor of Newsweek.
I think this book was written to insulate Hillary from LEGITIMATE questioning of her character and past behavior/lies.
Once she dons the victim role, it will be off-limits to attack Her Highness
on any issue. Republicans are sooo mean, doncha know.
Remember how HER SPACE WAS INVADED by whoever it was that ran aganst her in the debate??
Oh my, did she play that like a violin!!
Poor Hillary, she felt so threatened.

The best books I read so far are Hell to Pay by Barbara Olson and The First Lady by Peter Flaherty. The authors were both lawyers. It's interesting to read about Hillary, who is (was?) a lawyer from the perspective of other lawyers.

I hope this new one talks about Hillary's association with Robert Treuhaft, a member of the Communist Party of the USA, and their lawyer, and also his wife, socialist Jessica Mitford. Hillary interned for him in Berkeley and while there worked to help the Black Panthers. She never talks about this, so I wonder if this book will help bring this out.

Slick Willy and the Hildabeast are pure trash! Ed Klein's book, The Truth About Hillary, might be trash, but did we really expect anything less?! Come on, we are talking about the Clintons, for goodness sake! Nothing in this book should be a surprise to any of us. The liberal media will do their best to discredit Mr. Klein, but do we really want to believe them?! Wink

Interesting--we couldn't get the military base exchanges in Virginia and elsewhere to carry Unfit for Command so imagine my surprise last week when I was in the Carswell Base exchange in Ft. Worth and there was the book! For a book that is not available yet, perhaps I bought a clone, but there it was, big as life!! Very Happy

I purchased a copy and have been aviding reading it. There may be some "trashy" stuff in it, but it certainly tries to get under the mask of Hillary and paints an incredible picture of a driven woman and what makes her tick.

I have always wondered how she could look herself in the mirror knowing some of the stuff she has pulled, and the book gives a very interesting take on it. She apparently has tunnel vision--she will do anything to further her drive for the ultimate in power-the presidency. The bottom line is that she has no conscious because she is never wrong.

Almost every paragraph is footnoted so I keep my finger on the footnotes and go back and forth constantly. He relies upon a great number of sources--it appears to be based primarily upon interviews with "on the record" and "off the record" and published articles. We all know how important it is to have reliable sources; however, after reading this, I can well understand the FEAR people have of retaliation if they talk about Hillary. The book shows her to be a frightening choice in the White House.

I understand Klein will be on Hannity and Colmes tomorrow night and also on tomorrow's radio show. I will be listening with rapt attention!! When you all read it, then I hope you will come back with your in-depth reviews and comments. He has two pages of bibliography and now I want to track down some of these sources to see whether or not they are reliable. For instance, I notice he quotes from The First Partner: Hillary Rodham Clinton, A Biography by Joyce Milton (New York: Perennial, 2000).

PS
IMO, anyone who reads this book will think twice about allowing their daughter to attend Wellesley College (unless it is has changed drastically).

Interesting to hear your view on this Navy Wife and I welcome the idea that perhaps the book may have some merit after all. I was holding off on purchasing and just waiting for it to hit the Arlington Library, but now I will consider once again purchasing it.

I pray that it does not have the trash in it that I/we have speculated on because if that is true then she will definately elicit sympathy and gain support and that is the last thing any of us here would want. Evil or Very Mad

OMG...the thought of her as POTUS.....ugh......skerry............and yes...that was intended to be a joke....lame though....I know.....just a little humor for a humorless subject. Razz

I found something just for you! I did a search for reviews of the Milton book. Turns out she is a conservative writer and the review from the Washington Monthly in July 1999 says:

Quote:
She makes heavy weather, for example, out of Hillary's summer law school internship with Oakland lawyer Robert Treuhaft, the avowed communist who was married to the late Jessica Mitford. "While it is easy to see why a young, idealistic law student might have gone to work for Treuhaft in 1972," Milton intones, "one would also hope that she would eventually come to see that communism was not just a colorful variant of leftish idealism. Unfortunately, Hillary has never said or written a single word to indicate that she has." Then again, she's never said or written a single word to indicate that she hasn't. Ah, but there's all that collectivist rhetoric; there was Hillary's extensive involvement in the legal services movement; there's her career-long push for day care regulated and subsidized by the federal government
.

So, we know that at least Joyce Milton seems to have some good stuff in her writing! I shall continue searching for articles on his other sources!

Well, good news! I'm glad to hear that it's not as completely salacious and atrocious as I'd been hearing. There is at least one thing in there that I found absolutely over the top and cruel to the innocent offspring of the Clinton marriage. I was soooo hurt by that. The parents deserve all the expose' they get. The child, though... oh dear God is it really okay in our culture to attack innocent children?

At least you've assured us that there is reasonable and supported reporting in the book, too, so I'm not as worried about a National Enquirer story.

I'd trust your input a lot sooner than I'd trust most others. Wink

Fuhrman's book on the Terri Schindler case (I refuse to use her married name) will be out in a few days and Harry Potter is coming out, too... I'm going to be busier than ever with reading! Smile

Need another pair of eyes and hands! And another itty-bitty booklight! Wink

Red Pencils Are Drawn Over New Clinton Book

By Ann Gerhart
Washington Post Staff Writer
Tuesday, June 21, 2005; Page C01

Edward Klein is a prolific writer, and what a supremely confident one.

~snip~
"But the 305-page book relies so heavily on previously reported information about Clinton -- sometimes the author repeats rumors and then footnotes them to a prior author who referenced the rumors -- that new, corroborated news seems slight."

~snip~
"His book, "The Truth About Hillary: What She Knew, When She Knew It, and How Far She'll Go to Become President" -- his fifth book in nine years -- goes on sale today. The bold assertiveness of the title, along with advance word from the publisher that Klein's "shocking new accounts" would do to a potential Clinton presidential run what the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth did to John Kerry, seems to have made many a Hillary-hating heart beat faster. Orders for the embargoed book caused Sentinel, the conservative imprint of Penguin, to print 350,000 copies, said Sentinel's associate publisher Will Weisser."

~snip~
"Asked whether he objected to his work being compared to "Unfit for Command," the book by Swift boat veterans that challenged Kerry's own account of his war service, Klein said, "Insofar as the Swift boat veterans were attempting to shed light on John Kerry's character, if I am being compared to them that way, I have no problems with it."
