I've got one other question, if you don't mind. When the WH retracted those infamous 16 words from the SOTU, I assume it was on the basis of those memos of Oct. 5 and 6. Do you know where I might also find copies of those? I'm just curious if there is any mention of Wilson. (maybe you know that too?) |
Kimberly -
While waiting for SBD's answers to your questions, you might want to check out pertinent portions of the Report of The Senate Intelligence Committee here:
http://www.gpoaccess.gov/serialset/creports/iraq.html
Scroll down to "II Niger" and click on it. A PDF of the Niger section of the report, fairly heavily redacted, will come up. Fairly interesting. Wilson is never referred to by name, only "former ambassador". His report to his keepers was apparently delivered orally in his home with his wife "hostessing" but not listening in. The Senate report is clear that Valerie facilitated the selection of Joe for the job.
Also, FYI, the New York Times op-ed written by Joe is here:

You also mentioned that the famous 16-word phrase was retracted from the SOTU. My recollection is that the words were delivered by POTUS in the speech (totally accurately) and was the cause of the uproar.
