Navy conducting war crimes probe into November violence in Haditha
By Jim Miklaszewski
and Mike Viqueira
NBC News May 17, 2006

WASHINGTON - A Pentagon probe into the death of Iraqi civilians last November in the Iraqi city of Haditha will show that U.S. Marines "killed innocent civilians in cold blood," a U.S. lawmaker said Wednesday.

From the beginning, Iraqis in the town of Haditha said U.S. Marines deliberately killed 15 unarmed Iraqi civilians, including seven women and three children.

One young Iraqi girl said the Marines killed six members of her family, including her parents. “The Americans came into the room where my father was praying,” she said, “and shot him.”
On Wednesday, Rep. John Murtha, D-Pa., said the accounts are true.

Military officials told NBC News that the Marine Corps' own evidence appears to show Murtha is right.

Collateral Damage or Civilian Massacre in Haditha?
Last November, U.S. Marines killed 15 Iraqi civilians in their homes. Was it self-defense, an accident or cold-blooded revenge? A Time exclusive

He would have us believe that his sources have confirmed to him the account is true. Whether it is, or not, would military sources really confirm that to the likes of Murtha, or NBC news, during an ongoing investigation?

Another page out of the kerry & the Dem's Viet Nam playbook.

Murtha held a presser (C-span has it, it was disgusting) then he spread his venom on Hardball( video clip here )what made it even more sickening was his attitude, unbelievable kerry moment, as he spread the damning story... so self-important.

Murtha has lost his grip on reality. Blind, unreasoning hatred will do that to you. What a pitiful thing he has become.

I had the misfortune to see him on Matthews. He is a disgrace to the uniform he once so proudly wore.

Thanks for the link and the story Kate. My $$$ is on the way to the Irey campaign to see this anti-American turncoat driven from office (and thanks for the new sig).

Here is the contact information for Congressman Murtha. We need to let this guy know that it is irresponsible to state this as fact until it is investigated and proven. It would not be the first time a watchdog group fabricated a story to make our military look bad!

Sounds like the usual mouthy Murtha.

Guilty until proven innocent.

His use of the term "cold blood" is highly prejudicial and inaccurate as well.

Marine investigators are not commenting in order not to prejudice the investigation or trial. Their professionalism makes Murtha look like even more of a fool.

As I said over on FreeRepublic, Murtha's usual outburst violates nearly everything our legal system is founded on. Why bother to even investigate, Murtha has already decalred them guilty.

FreeRepublic is asking for any interested to donate to his opponent in the upcoming elections.

Murtha has to go!

When I try to get over my first knee-jerk, replused reaction, and think, I have to admit that I am really puzzled about Murtha and his over-the-top pronouncements lately. There just has to be reason for this, for example:

1) Is he really just the "useful fool," that good old reliable MSM has decided to feature (as a substitute for Cindy)? As a long-time politician, I'd think he's shrewder than that.

2) Has he, for some reason, volunteered to carry the water bucket for Kerry? If so, what's the pay-off?

3) Is his home district really so liberal and anti-war that he feels he has to do this to pander to his constituency to get re-elected?

4) Or is this all a smoke screen, to cover-up and divert attention from some other issue looming in the background?

Anybody got any really good educated guesses?

Murtha could have problems related to this. Originally appreared in The LA Times (pulled from their website?) full article here link

Lobbyist's Brother Guided House Bill

A family member's ties to special interests raise questions in the case of Democrat John Murtha.
By Ken Silverstein and Richard Simon
Times Staff Writers

June 13, 2005

WASHINGTON — When Congress passed the $417-billion Pentagon spending bill last year, Rep. John P. Murtha, the top Democrat on the House defense appropriations subcommittee, boasted about the money he secured to create jobs in his Pennsylvania district.

But the bill Murtha helped write also benefited at least 10 companies represented by a lobbying firm where his brother, Robert "Kit" Murtha, is a senior partner, according to disclosure records, interviews and an analysis of the bill by The Times.

Clients of the lobbying firm KSA Consulting — whose top officials also include former congressional aide Carmen V. Scialabba, who worked for Rep. Murtha for 27 years — received a total of $20.8 million from the bill.

just a couple bucks, keeping it all in the family.

I was so proud of John O'Neill tonight! Bob Beckel and Alan Colmes were really trying to smear those young Marines just like Kerry did the troops 35 years ago --did you hear Mai Lai repeatedly?

John Murtha is dispicable.

Kate, that just might explain it:

Something is sure driving him, and I firmly believe it's something more pragmatic than misguided ideals.

But that story is almost a year old. What's taking so long? (rhetorical question) Thinking out loud, but what can one do to hurry this along and get it out in the open (asuming it's true)?

He's a disgusting maggot.

Too bad the Corps couldn't use him in place of bunker sand bags.

Murtha is scum. Something the really disgusts me is that the mainstream media would be quick to defend a terrorist, like Moussaoi, but not our Marines. They are more interested in piling on when it comes to our troops. The same troops that make it possible to print the crap that they do without fear of reprisal!

It's hard to believe that Murtha was ever a Marine. Marines DON'T turn on marines. I have too many friends who served in the Marine Corps. They are of a single mindset that once a marine always a marine. They would never turn on a fellow marine, even if they disagreed with what they were doing.

Murtha is just rabid and no better than Kerry.

It is apalling that an Iraqi civilian watchdog group and some reportes say it happenend, and he take it as the gospel truth. He doesn't take the word of our Marines, and doesn't even wait for an investigation to be completed. It hurts. It is the same strategy that Kerry employed re: Vietnam. Claim widespread atrocities to create opposition to the war that he disagreed with. I expect that from a coward like Kerry, but not from a former Marine. The Democrat party has gone over the deep end in thier attempts to regain power. It is a constant drumbeat, and the media is on board. Sickening!
