Eleven Iraqis were detained with false passports at the Monterrey International Airport, according to a report by newspaper El Norte.

Citing anonymous sources, but publishing what is presumably a photo of the family that was detained — including a two-year-old — the report says they were Catholics fleeing the war in Iraq.

They apparently obtained false passports in Europe and were to meet a pollero, a human smuggler, in Monterrey. They were reportedly headed to Tijuana, where they would cross into the United States.

El Norte reported they will be sent to Mexico City for further investigation. |

More than likely, they are Chaldean. We have a big population of Chaldeans here in San Diego including my brother-in-law. His sister is a nun as well.

Ramzi Yousef entered the USA with an Iraqi passport and asked for Asylum, also that group of ex Iraqi soldiers who were in Oklahoma City at the time of the bombing were also here because they asked for asylum.

Later one of them (John Doe #2) ended up working at Boson Logan airport:

I think there is more to this story than just being christians! |

It's possible that these are people who are taking advantage of the precarious plight of Iraqi Christians and pretending to be religious refugees, but it's more likely that they're exactly what they appear to be - a family of Iraqi Christians.

Catholics are in dire straits in a number of places in this world and Iraq is one of them. _________________ ~ Echo Juliet ~
