The left would love the ad to be pulled.
The left would love the ad to stay.

It depends on what would produce the most harm to Bush.

Let's not second guess. The SwiftVet truth should speak for the 60,000 who lost their voice while Kerry denounced them.

The ad which features TRUE American heros expressing their first
amendment rights in an effort to inform other Americans before
they cast important votes should run, run, and run. The attacK to
squash and illigetimize these REAL medal owners is proof enough
that their truth is getting out to a public that should know who
Kerry really is. [/i]
How could the truth about Kerry hurt President Bush?
This is Kerry's "blue dress".

By-the-way--the book about Kerry's misadventures, which is due
out 10 Aug is already number 2 on Amazon, led only by "9/11"

Yep, it's been hovering between #1 and #4 since the day after it was put on the amazon site. Wink

Pretty amazing - if it's that high up on amazon, you KNOW there are a lot of people who want to read the antidote to "Tour of Duty."

The heat SBVT is receiving shows how effective the ad really is. Whether people like the ad or not, they are looking up what has been said about Kerry. People listen to the news and most all condemning it, but that makes people want to read more, so they sign on and look.

The Dems may block it from a few stations, but they can't block everything being said on the internet.

Hang tough, people, it's gonna get worse before it gets better.

It's simple. If the ad can hurt Bush's chance for reelection, then the ad should be pulled.

Regardless of whether pulling the ad can do the same thing?

How will this organization feel if it is blamed for Kerry living in the White House?

<shrug> How will people feel if pulling the ad is responsible for the same thing?

What is more important right now -- getting Bush reelected or telling the truth about Kerry in Vietnam? It's a very simple question.

But isn't it also a false dilemma? I still don't see the case being made for the two being mutually exclusive in the first place.

What you forget is that most Americans are not inner-city barking moonbats. Truth still matters to the American people. Unlike you sir who seems to believe it's all a matter of political calculus.

You may not believe it but read the name of our organization! It appears to be beyond you but....the truth will out with the "people".

But never with your friendly moonbats.

There's actually a pretty decent blog called "Barking Moonbat Early Warning System". Here's the URL: http://www.barking-moonbat.com/

To the question of whether the Swift Vets' ad will do more harm than good for the Bush campaign:

Everytime any Republican mentions that John Kerry have voted to cut defense, intelligence, voted against funding for our troops in Iraq, the response is "I am a Vietnam Veteran and a war hero. You can't question my patriotism."

It's a weak response. But the Swift Vets' ad will take even that very weak response away from Kerry and the Democrats.

If Kerry's war and anti-war records become debatable, Kerry loses the only advantage that he currently has on military issues. And if people learn the truth about Kerry's record, it will become a liability, not an asset.

Pulling the ad would be disasterous. The story line would go like this - the Republican attack dogs released a virulent, hateful ad attacking a decorated veteran, and when they realized it was damaging Bush, they pulled it. This just proves that the ad was a blatant lie.

The only correct course politically is to run the ad.

But political considerations are not a part of the equation. This is about the truth, and about healing the hearts of the Vietnam vets who served honorably and were spit upon when they returned home. If Bush loses, he loses. Americans will still know the truth about Kerry, and they will realize what an awful mistake they have made. If Bush wins, (and I think that he will), it will be at least in part due to the fact that the truth came out.

Senator McCain was wrong to label this ad "dishonest and dishonorable." He wasn't there. These men were there, and there is nothing to suggest that their statements are anything other than truthful.

And I wouldn’t assume that because the left-leaning media is lashing out at the ad, it won't resonate with American voters. This is the same left-leaning media that has sought, for over 30 years, to tarnish the legacy of our great Vietnam Veterans.

This ad will prove effective in reaching the American people for two reasons. First, in the midst of Senator Kerry’s attempt to portray himself as a patriotic soldier reporting for duty, the ad reminds us that when he returned home from his first tour of duty, Mr. Kerry denounced his military service (not to mention falsely accused his fellow soldiers of war crimes while also working to turn public opinion against their mission).

And second, Mr. Kerry has the undeniable reputation of being a person whose actions are dictated by political opportunity. The accounts of the Swift Boat Veterans speak to the reputation that Mr. Kerry is trying so hard to shake.

Meanwhile, expect a continuous onslaught of smears, along with cries for the ad to be pulled, from the same people who refuse to denounce Fahrenheit 911. There is a clear double standard in American politics. Fahrenheit 911 is a hot steaming pile of lies, while this ad contains the words of our finest Americans.

I admire and look up to these men. Men, who not only stood unwavering in defense of America’s friend and ally against the global threat of communism, but are also serving our country a second time in their pursuit to set the record straight. And while they will no doubt encounter the full wrath of those on the left who understand the significance of the Swift Boat Veteran’s message, as far as I’m concerned, who better for a job requiring this degree of courage, toughness, and resolve.

Swift Boat Vets. It is your inalienable right to speak your mind and get the truth out to the world. Your rights are guaranteed by the country's constitution and by the blood of the many vets who fought and died for this right. This is no longer an issue of Bush, McCain, Fox News, CNN or anyone else. This is one single principle loud and clear, the truth of the events must be heard. You MUST set the record straight or risk being silenced again as you once were before. This battle will not get easier, it will get harder. As with all things that are honorable and true, there is NO easy path. This is a struggle and it's one worth fighting. Remember that you are not alone in this fight. There are many who are joining the fight with you, and many more that just need to be found. This new enemy is powerful and well financed. It looks like you have every disadvantage, except you have Truth and Honor behind you. Truth and Honor are a powerful combination. Now is not the time to break ranks, now is the time to pull together as a unit once again.

Don't let them hide the truth.....Don't let them bury you in the lies and deceit. You CAN win this war, but it will take each and every one of you standing by each other.

Remember the lives that Kerry put into danger when he was an officer on a Swift Boat, and think about our boys and girls over seas fighting now and what will happen when he becomes commander and chief. It's not just the honor of the fallen in Vietnam, and the honor of the Swift Boat Vets you are fighting for. You are fighting for their honor and their lives as well. Don't give up this fight Vets.
