Hello,

Time I jumped in...

I did not see the O'Reilly interview.

However, from reading this thread alone, I suggest anyone from Swiftvets.com or representing the group in any way shape or form in front of the media, had better get some media training, pronto. The handwriting is on the wall and I've seen this happen time and time again.

You are about to go up against the best(?) in the business as this story grows -- and it will grow even bigger as the book is read and questions about why the big media "missed the boat" (no pun intended) by not breaking the news and are now playing catch up ball.

The guys and gals playing at the network level are not to be taken lightly at all. This should be a 16 incher from the Missouri going off, oh, say 12 inches from your forehead!

No one, but no one, should actively seek out the level of attention given at the network level without being prepared. It's like going into battle without a weapon. These people will tear you apart and they want to do just that, if they can. They are wounded animals and you know what that means.

This is real basic stuff and it really surprises me that this one fell through the cracks. Perhaps it was discussed but not acted on? The assumption that the guys can handle the media grilling without training is foolish.

For the record, I am behind you guys 110 percent!

Christmas in Cambodia? More like the North Pole, Johnny.

Cazador is correct. The media will show no mercy when trying to put their Kerryspin on the story. They are masters at it and all should be prepared when taking them on. The story must stay front and center, and while a scripted response doesn't look/sound good, an ill-prepared appearance is not good, either. In particular, the rapid-fire questioning will give the impression the Swiftie being interviewed doesn't have the story straight, etc. Also notable is the leading questioning and then the cut-off while the answer is being given. Classic tactics.

O'Reilly will never answer emails. The best you can hope for is that someone on his staff will read yours and perhaps forward it on to him. Mr. Bloviator is too busy over-inflating his ego to have time to read emails from viewers. Best bet is local and nationally syndicated talk shows for story exposure.

Hang tough. The truth will win out.

The "best in the business" doesn't make the kind of mistakes O'Reilly did today. Other than the "Swift Boat Veterans AGAINST Truth" gaffe, he also claimed that Gardner was the only 1 of 3500 MEMBERS for the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth that served on Kerry's boat. My understanding is that there were 3500 total Swift Boat Vets in Vietnam and 250 Members for Swift Boat Veterans for Truth. This gave a very unfavorable impression especially since O'Reilly didn't correct his mistake and state that Gardner was in fact 1 out of a few dozen and NOT 3500 to serve on Kerry's boat. I, too, am dismayed at O'Reilly's tone. He implored the notion of being "fair" when the TRUTH is far more important.

Maybe the PINHEADS have gotten to O'Reilly. Let us ask!

After watching the inetrview on Oreilly, I admit I was somewhat disheartened. No one can expect your average everyday person to go up against the pit bulls of broadcasting and come out on top. Not without some massive pre-interview prepping. Those guys make the big bucks for a reason, they are loud, quick thinking (even if their minds don't always come to the right conclusion, anything for a sound bite) and have no reservations about going for the throat.

I was absolutely disgusted with Orielly's handling of this, and have been from the start. As I was groaning and complaining to the TV this evening it occured to me that perhaps.. just perhaps (and yes, this is me wandering out into what if land) Oreilly wants Kerry on his show. I'm unclear right now if Kerry is scheduled to appear or not. I've heard he is and I've heard he isn't. (How fitting, considering who we're talking about.. maybe he is, maybe he ain't. heh, but I digress)
IF Kerry has been scheduled to appear, perhaps Oreilly has put a muzzle on himself UNTIL Kerry is on the show. If he were to come out right now and blast Kerry out of the water on all of this, no way would Kerry do the show. BUT, if he plays nice dog, rolls over and plays dead.. Kerry shows up, THEN gets blasted out of the water on national TV. I can totally seeing Oreilly doing that. Question is, is that whats going on here, setting up a nice Kerry friendly zone, oh sure.. there are the usual snide remarks, but making the pretty and seeming to buy into the Kerry line of BS. Then attack and destroy once Kerry is on the set, on the record, and without a team of DNC mouth pieces to put words in his mouth.

Just a thought.. maybe a little tooooo wishful.. but man.. I want the old Oreilly, the one who had fangs instead of dentures and claws instead of lee press on's.

Mr. Gardner did OK.

Won't happen. O'Reilly has stated several times that he and Kerry have known each other for years and he considers him to be a 'friend'. O'reilly will pitch Kerry softballs just like he did Moore IMO.

I just wrote Bill O'Reilly another note:

Just WHO is looking out for US now, Bill, because it sure isn't you!

It's the Swifts looking out for us - trying to provide an early warning.

But, you ignored every single salient point and parroted the pinhead's completely IRRELEVANT ones.

You're letting them spin you like a top.

Where's the old Bill O'Reilly?

That explains alot. Brit Hume and Fred Barnes were a lot tougher then O'Reilly was on the Kerry campaign.

ArmyNavy-

YOU are Good! I was glad, I was NOT having my coffee while reading that post or else good bye keyboard! The idea is good too and who knows? I just get the idea that OReilly would be a pussycat with Kerry.
Don't know why..gut instinct.

Keep writing, you're a born writer (pithy, ya know Wink )

Look, O'Reilly bases his show on a punch-counter punch style. That's how he gets ratings. Don't fault the format. So O'Reilly comes out swining. He is trying to get the interviewee to look like bad. Gardner walked away standing so he won.

Secondly, Fox defines a fast pace. So if one is capable of getting 1 maybe 2 points across Mr. Gardner is a winner. He appeared credible. The fact that Fox, and Chicago Sun Times is willing to run with the story means that you are getting your message out gentlemen. One or two more pieces in the mainstream media and the veil of silence will be broken. Does not mean you have overcome the opposing force but you have them pinned.

Someone on the thread mentioned getting O'Reilly educated. I would highly suggest that be persued. Point out ops details, chain of command, battle tactics. Realize the education will not be for converting O'Reilly, but for arming him with the talking points when he brings on the opposition. And trust me he wil -- it's ratings remember? And give him the talking points in cue card style -- short and deadly.

Keep the pressue up. Don't expect to be NYT front page. But if Wash. Post goes A-1,2, or 3 you've positioned Kerry that he has to abandon the threats and answer the truth.

Keep going.

I agree, def gotta keep going; however, explain the OReilly/Moore interview. Not one question @ F911 eventhough that is the only thing Bill had talked about for 2 months?

Hi,

What a great idea!

Send bullet style talking points to all the reporters and anchors. With the SwiftVets replies underneath. Add at least one follow on question for each point.

Swiftvets say this:

Kerry did this.

Kerry supporter replies thusly according to party line.

Swiftvet counter is X and an additional question to force them to prove their counterpoint.

Make it easy for the press to do your attacking. Give them the talking points and the proof underneath for each point.

This needs coordination to keep these cheat sheets up to date.

Don't worry about it falling into enemy hands. They already read all of these messages. They're having heart failures over having to offer credible responses when the attacks wear thin and the press finally asks for proof like Kerry's full records.

Truth and evidence is on your side.

Best,

Cazador

Cazador,

Right on. And might I add maybe if someone could photocopy one of those 'brown sheets' backgrounds we have heard about recently maybe the SWIFTs could develop one of their own.

All facts, no hype or black bag jobs. Just the brown wrapper and maybe a punchy chapter out of the book and those bullet points. Sheer irony if the news room was confused when they start spewing SWIFTs notes off the teleprompter? Smile))
