I am going to make a suggestion, but I am on the outside looking in.

The press and the the Kerry campaign in a cornerstone of Kerry's assertations is Mr. Rasmussen. Without his presence any definable asseration by Kerry disappears. I am not suggesting a smear of Mr. Rasmussen. He did his hitch so a tip of the hat to him. But it is odd that a single Special Forces operative was on a SWIFT. I thought SF's worked in teams?

Actionable items

- Attempt to find the CO of the SF unit in question. Inquire if there were defined orders for his presence. All on the up and up of course.

- Who were Mr. Rasmussen's team members? What is their recollection of that day if any?

I think the documentation from that angle would speak for itself.

I would think there are separate action reports for SF, than Navy.

.....ask the question: How many of JK's boatmates were awarded PH's and stars over the same time period of Nov68 to March 69?

And compare/contrast the action that lead to those awards to what JK got them for. I think that would be an intersting read. But I could be wrong.

Irb111,

You are of course right. I was not suggesting that the SWIFT command would have any AAR's for the SF team. But if the SWIFT and SF were working a combined forces action there would be documentation from the SF command chain. Finding the CO during that time period would be my first run at finding the information.
