Amazon has pulled the phony review.

Quote:
Patty Smith of Amazon.com Media Relations explained that Amazon allows publishers to submit content via a Online Publishers Review Form to Amazon.com including Editorial Reviews. That information is reviewed before appearing on the Amazon.com web site. In this case, someone at Amazon failed to properly review the source of the Online Publishers Review Form.

"Someone used the publishers submission form," Smith said, "a 'bad actor', who used the system in a way that they should not have." Smith stressed that the form was reviewed but not reviewed properly.

For misrepresentation and libel.

Regardless, Barnes & Noble runs the site and is supposed to be managing it. I for one have canceled my book order because I am very concerned that if someone can do this to their site then perhaps they are able to get hold of my personal information as well as credit card numbers.

I suggest that everyone write in to Barnes & Noble citing these concerns.

On a slightly different note, I am willing to bet my entire paycheck that the Barnes & Noble over on Barracks Road here in "Little Berkeley" (ahem) Charlottesville will not be carrying this book in stock once it is released in September.

This is the typical type of liberal hypocritical bias unfair kind of thing I've come to expect. Can someone tell me when some conservative hacker did something like this to one of the dozens of Bush hating bashing books that came out the past three years? But let there be a book like this, that is a serious threat to kerry's shemes for power, and then let the content of the book be TRUE and proven with first hand accounts and military records, and whoa. Grab your butt and give your heart to Jesus because the unrelenting firestorm will come for you if you dare to speak the truth and it exposes blatant liberal slanted lies. It's great though because look at how much more publicity it got the book! I was ticked at first until it hit me, "Hey! This just got the book EVEN MORE free press!" And makes the people who did it look like the real gestapo and censorship police. The funny thing is, when truly rational middle of the road people hear of things like this, they're not impressed. They don't think it's cute, or funny. It makes them rethink their status as undecided, based on wondering if they want to vote with a group of people who have to subvert as a substitute for not being able to debate their point and hold their ground with facts and figures.

So the more dirty tricks from the kerry campaign the better in my way of thinking. It simply and effectively justifies ALL of what is said about kerry and his followers. What we've seen the past weeks with all this venomous black hatred of the Vets by the kerryites just shows how weak and wrong they are. People only get that when they're exposed as frauds and they're left naked in the light, drug forceably from the shadows that previously hid their lies and deceit. It's classic. Smile You can judge people and their TRUE nature by their actions. Look as the President's response and tone to ALL the vicious venomous black nasty hatred thrown at him the past three years, without so much as one witness or any shread of proof to back it up. And now, look at the reaction of MR. kerry and his people responding to these SWIFT Boat Vets, who bring to the table first hand accounts and experience, as well as military records and other factual evidence to back up their words. It is very telling as to the true nature of the men. One uses lawyers to subvert, coerce, hide, and threaten the truth into silence. The other just stays the course, allows people the freedom to say what they will abou thim, and trusts that most people's better judgement and discernment of truth will prevail and show the attacks for the lies they are. Which has been happening in spades. Is there anyone that takes dickie clarke or joey wilson or mikey moore seriously after the 9-11 commission and other revelations blew their credibility out of the water? Other than fringe cookes who think everything is a vast right wing conspiracy. Smile It's also conspicuous how no one makes an issue of the fact that the Senate Intelligence committee was really chastised by the 9-11 commission for not doing all they could to stop the attacks, and MR. kerry served on it for years before 9-11, as did edwards. Edwards who for some reason didn't serve in Vietnam, but was 18 in 71, and curiously no one has asked why it is that HE didn't serve in vietnam. But I digress. Smile

PostPosted: Tue Aug 10, 2004 9:40 pm    Post subject: Barnes & Noble - My Response to Them Reply with quote

I am suddenly concerned from the "hacking" of your site and/or internal sabotage over the book "Unfit for Command" by John O'Neill. This has brought on some concerns over the security of my credit card number and I am now questioning:

1. If someone inside Barnes & Noble or on the outside can alter the cover of a book, they can obviously hack my credit card number.

This is my concern.

Rather than experience a canned response from Barnes & Noble, I would prefer a personal response over my legitimate concerns.

I found this "prank" very distasteful for Barnes & Noble to even allow this to happen WITHOUT AN EXPLANATION ON WHAT HAPPENED.

Please have someone from your staff contact me personally on this issue. my phone number is (xxx) xxx-xxxx.

I will cease ordering online from your site until I receive assurance that my credit card number and personal information is deemed safe.

At this time, I want my book orders immediately cancelled. This includes 8 books total. We shall discuss this action whenever someone from your "professional" staff decides to contact me.

I do NOT want one of your ignorant liberal college students calling - I want someone PROFESSIONAL to contact me.

I was told first by the answering representative of B&N that this "error" was "human error" and that it was nothing but a "mistake."

I did not accept this answer and requested to speak to a supervisor.

The supervisor (Nancy) came online and said:

"I can assure you that our site is totally secure, sir."

"Then tell me - was this an inside job by a disgruntled hippie liberal leftist employee of B&N? simply because they are against the book?"

"No, it was human error."

"Why can't you answer my question instead of giving me a canned response that you've been told to say by your Berkeleyite Liberal Hippie Bosses?"

"I just told you it was a human error."

"So, you do not care to go on record and tell me what really happened?"

She hung up.

Conspiracy amidst.........Barnes & Noble's staff are nothing but a bunch of liberal hippie thugs.

Mark my words: they will NOT sell this book at the Barnes & Noble on Barracks Road here in Little Berkeley, Charlottesville Virginia because this is a leftist, communist, socialist hippie liberal town.

Cancel your orders with Barnes & Noble as I have done.

Let's boycott them.

Whoa kafir - that ought to get their attention. Wink

I was considering sending a similar note to amazon, but they rectified the fraudulent review.

The lefty pinko berlkeyite types especially like B&N because many have Starbucks in/adjacent to them now, so they get their high brow books to try to look so "progressive and informed and intellectual", and then go next door and read down their nose as they sip a double light half caff mocha latte or whatever for $6.00. Smile The book will be a huge massive blockbuster and they will hate it, but it will be. Smile The truth seems to be a good sell. Is anyone even talking about the clinton books anymore? Smile

The Clinton books? Twisted Evil

The Clinton books I like best are "Dereliction of Duty" by Robert Patterson and "Rewriting History" by Dick Morris and (scariest of all!) "American Evita" by Christopher Andersen

The one I'm reading now is a real barnburner.... if this book won't scare the hell out of you, you have no brain "Reckless Disregard" by Robert Patterson.

There is a lot of stuff in there about John Kerry and his party. And most of it is truly hair-raising.

It's a miricle they actually had a human child that was not some kind of genetic freak of nature naturally occuring exact clone of one of themselves. Thank God. Confused

so human error caused someone to photoshop an entirely different book cover and then upload it to their site? Rolling Eyes I would recommend simply not purchasing anything from B&N. Pow! Me thinks they just shot themselves in the foot.

Sad thing is, they haven't shot themselves in the foot as much as everyone thinks and hopes.

They hold a monopoly on college textbooks. Practically all public universities (and probably a lot of private as well) have bookstores that are run by B&N. It stinks that students with financial aid can only get their books from their campus bookstores. The prices are always so much more expensive.
