I think this is a man that has invisioned himself as President for a long long time and everything he has done in life has been to that end. There is nothing wrong with that........at all. Great goal. BUT.......the way he went about it is the problem. Rather than taking the straight road to get there he somehow felt he had to make everything he did, more than it was in order to achieve his goals.

Was this because he did not feel what he was able to accomplish on his own was good enough or because he simply took every opportunity available to him to elevate every situation? At any rate, it is like he wrote these scripts in his head, made himself the lead man, then filled in the support actors and extras as needed.

The Cambodia lie is a perfect example of this. He took this story and used it to elevate himself in the political arena. In so doing he gave no regard whatsoever to those he served with or to his Country. It was all about HIM. Making that kind of way out there, outlandish noise was the only thing that would get him any attention.......and he used it for all it was worth.

I wonder now, who the supporting actors are..what is their role....

hanna,

You just said that the end doesn't necessarily justify the means.

You applauded John Kerry's "end", and expressed concern about the "means."

John Kerry isn't the first politico to justify the means with the end. He just has more company in countries the USA normally argues with.

You are right, I was focusing on the means. The reason is because I was asking myself why would he do all these things. The end is also a concern, a big concern because I am greatly concerned about just what "end" he has in mind. To gain the power of the presidency and bask in that in leisurely manner for 4-8 years I don't think is it unfortunately. First, I think the first thing he is going to have to do is engage in a lot of payback.....at the expense of this Country. That could very well put this Country on a road toward Socialism that we cannot return from.

See, I don't think Kerry is in on this alone. I actually think he is a willing pawn for people that have an agenda that we can hardly imagine.

Now, hows that for a conspiracy theory for you?

This guy scares me to death!!

I Agree with all you've said Hanna and Scott. Maybe being shuffled off to boarding school while he was young fostered some type of desire in this guy to be something he is not in order to attract attention. I think he watched the movie "Apocolypse Now" and somehow injected the storyline into his biography. He obviously based his early career on John F. Kennedy exploits in PT109. I'm just a dumb retired cop but I'm sure someone with a physchiatric background could look at his history and explain his motivations. My concern is that is that a man who makes things up to further his public image and really has no moral base and therefore doesn't have a concrete foundation for beliefs in what is right or wrong and what is true and what is not. That's how we get him saying he voted for the 87 billion before he voted against it or more recently that he would vote for the war in Iraq even if he knew in advance there were no WMD's after saying a few weeks ago he was solidly against the Iraq war. The guy has no base, he is all over the map on every issue. He is pro choice but he says he believes life starts at conception. I do not agree with Howard Dean but at least he has stuck to his conviction against the war as has Joe Lieberman has in supporting the war. This country cannot afford someone at the helm who doesn't have a solid foundation in reality.
