It seems surreal to me that polls should show such a close race at this point in time.
We are talking about THE single most important and powerful position in the ENTIRE WORLD.

We know all these items about Kerry, substantiated and verifiable, make him unfit to be CiC.

Regardless of your opinion on George Bush (I greatly admire him), we know he has made correct decisions based on intel information at the time - again, verifiable.

Why is it that we have, I don't know the correct word for it... I guess "self-hating Americans" who want to punish the nation by electing a U.N./France coddling ninny with a questionable reputation?

After 9-11 (the tragic event, not the Michael Moore piece of poop... though that was also a tragic event), there was this patriotic surge that I had hoped would continue... There was unity... There was pride...

How (and when) did it become fashionable to berate America and its Administration in mainstream America? I fully understand that is one of our greatest rights to have, but again, when did it become the "hip" thing to Bush-bash and America-bash at Starbuck's?

Media is DEFINITELY left-slanted in this country - you don't have to be Columbo to figure that out - my question is WHY is it left-slanted? What is the left agenda (and, perhaps more on topic, what benefit will Kerry in office have for them?)

I envision a small, Berkley (sp?) faction supporting the Kerry ticket, but the polls just make my head spin... Way too close to be real... My hope is that peer/media pressure causes pollsters to vote one way, but in their hearts, they know they must not have Kerry hold the most influential position in the world.

Any opinions?

Well, we're getting beat over the head every day with the idea that Iraq is going badly and the economy is like that of Hoover's time.

Some people can only think in sound bites. Most people go no further than their evening news or morning paper for what's really going on in the country.

That's why we have to make so much noise.

WAKE UP AMERICA!!!!

Navy is right - the popular press is trying to seep an idea into the world's consciousness, that somehow Bush is bad. They've been at it since he tookd office. They've had less time to seep the idea that Kerry is good into the world's consciousness, fortunately.

If people really did examine the facts, they'd see Kerry is a nonsense. But many people won't do that - they'll make their selection based upon what has been slowly fed into them by the media.

Unfortunate.

Regards, Ivan

Yes... but WHY?

That the media shows left-bias is a given.
Why they do that is what confounds me (why people buy into it confounds me more)

Have you read any of the recent analysis of the people who provide your news?

Very interesting study done... the journalists were asked to name their political party and ideologies. A rather small minority identified themselves as liberal Democrats, next were Independents and last was a very small minority of self-declared conservative Republicans.

However, there were many further questions asked about how the journalists thought about various issues - abortion, partial birth abortion, specific Supreme court decisions, 2nd amendment rights, etc.

Very surprising.... the liberal answers were FAR more than those who claimed to be liberal. The conservative answers were far lower than those who claimed themselves to be conservative.

They identify themselves as being much more centrist or conservative than their ideologies would indicate.

Same thing going with teachers and professors from kindergarten through graduate school.

Liberal ideology has a grip on our media and a grip on our childrens' teachers.

Thanks Navy,
That is astounding, but not entirely surprising.

I envision more of a decline should Kerry get to be POTUS.

I can't even imagine what a Kerry Presidency would do to this nation...

Yes I can - I'm drawing up plans for a time machine (just in case). Flux capacitors... fluxing.

The explanation is because we have been sitting on our asses and letting it happen -- while -- John Kerry and Bill Clinton and their minions have been working constantly.

"The only thing necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing" -- Edmund Burke

It's been a long time since most of us were in the service. What have we done since then to serve our country? For almost all of us the answer is very, very little or not a damn thing. We have been selfish, lazy, spoiled...

That's why the schools and all the rest are so messed up. That's why Kerry is so close to taking over.

We have an opportunity here to serve our country again. But exposing and destroying Kerry is not going to solve any problems permanently. The problem is us - our lack of citizenship. Hopefully in this effort a lot of people will realize that a life that includes citizenship is a lot more satisfying than being an airhead sportsfan, consumer or whatever.

dwight, don't kick yourselves too hard. hwo could you hvae known? you took your cues from the generation before you, the WW2 vets. and you learned from them because you looked to them for direction, not because they shouted up and down waving flags and candy and screaming "HEY KIDS OVER HERE".

your word still got out, just not as widespread as it should've been.

We saw, we read, we heard. adn those of us with brains will not have the wool pulled over our eyes.

we are standing up and screaming...those of us with voices are raising them in stentorian yells and getting noticed.

It's a hard fight ahead, but it is not lost

(and to think a couple hrs ago I was being all pessimistic. I just don't want you guys thinking we haven't noticed...)

Liberals here are rightly called socialists in other countries. This has been in the works for a long time. The communist always did seek to control one of Americas political parties,They did just later than they wanted to. It is so hypocritical that the allot of the big wigs in the Democratic party are the same "protesters" who loathed Vietnam and disrespected veterans, hated there country. Now want to go back to it? And have a self professed war criminal as there leader, Was this not what they were protesting in the 60's and 70's. Vietnam was bad, now it was good? It should just go to show anyone with a brain what phony Hippocrates they are. What will a Kerry presidency do? Cowl to the terrorist, cowl to the European socialist (no offense Ivan ) IE France and Germany, Raise your taxes, Take away your rights including gun rights, Appoint liberal(socialist) judges, and turn U.S. over to the United Ninnies another organization ran by a socialist all while the media tells you how good it is that it is being done. You need to be protected from yourself. It sickens me, The mere thought of a Kerry presidency

I am not a swing voter. Swing voter really means = My vote is for sale, I am like a fart blowing in the wind.

I stand on principle. Conviction is for the informed.

When I hear the word soccer mom, I want to vomit.

Liberal media lying all day every day. The ignorant believe.

Guess what folks, not everyone should vote. MTV go away and die.

I am frustrated, cant you tell.

Good analysis low26.

Since WWII, the Communists/Socialists have been infiltrating the American system.--See Ann Coulter's "Treason" Liberal Treachery From the Cold War to the War on Terrorism. http://www.ruthlessreviews.com/books/treason.html In which she relates how Communists' infiltrated the Roosevelt and Truman Administrations. As many here already know, much of the Vietnam anti-war rhetoric came straight from the Soviet Propaganda machine--who to this day brag about their influence and effect on the VVAW.

The Commies and Socialists have foisted their corrupt idiology on our society at all levels, and it has been taken to heart by many of our so-called intellectuals, that hypcritically (as they sit in their cushy tenured chairs) dream of an utopian world where all are equal.

Communist/Socialist College Professors indoctrinate future teachers, reporters, journalists, directors, and these zombies indoctrinate your children. Note how few big-business capitalists lean to the left.

Too many young people never watch the news at all, but get their politics by osmosis. And in the present climate it is not surprising why they haven't got a clue. These popular culture idol-loving fools, believe every uttered word oozing from their role models, such as Whoopi, Moore and their ilk. And if THEY are making poisonous remarks regarding President Bush, he must deserve it.

Thanks Jack, that lifted my spirits a bit.

God, if only it turned out that way in November!

I'd send Kerry a postcard to his little villa in France.
