On the fox site, there is an article where Kerry says he was shot
at by drunk Cambodians, celebrating Christmas.

I just have a question about this, as I would not know wether or not
Cambodians celebrate Christmas.
Are they Christians? If not, would they celebrate Christmas like
most do?
I don't know, it just struck me funny is all.

This post was placed on the board at firefightersforbush.com, and my reply to it. My BROTHERS there are backing the Swifts 110%.....!!

Here's the post, and My reply to it.....Read on Folks.......

The Night Before Christmas
(Cambodian Version)
Twas the night before Christmas and we were afloat
Somewhere in Cambodia in our little boat.
While the river was lightened by rockets red glare
No one but the President knew we were there.

The crew was all nestled deep down in their bunks,
While the Spook and I watched the sampans and junks.
Our mission was secret, so secret in fact,
No one else would remember it when we got back.

When out on the water there arose such a clatter
I leaped down from the bridge to see what was the matter.
The incoming friendly was starting to flash
And I knew that the ARVN's were having a bash.

The snap of friendly fire on the warm tropic air
Convinced me for sure no one knew we were there,
On a clandestine mission so secret it's true
That I'm still convinced only Tricky Dick knew.

While I huddled for safety in the tub on the bow,
I thought of a title, "Apocalypse Now."
To give to the films I was I making each day
To show all the voters when I made my big play.

As I sat there sweating in my lucky flight jacket,
Spook said, "Merry Christmas!" and tossed me a packet.
And what to my wondering eyes did appear,
But a new lucky cap, which I still have right here.

I keep it tucked here, in this leather brief case,
Just sharing with the press its secretive place
As I regale them again with my senate refrain,
That Christmas in Cambodia is seared into my brain.

Don't bother to quibble with history my friend,
By pointing out Johnson was President then.
Don't listen to Swiftees who try to explain,
For I tell you that night is seared into my brain.

Down Hibbard, down Lonsdale, and you too O'Neill,
So you don't remember? Well it's something I feel.
I don't need all you Swiftvets to support my campaign,
Cause Christmas in Cambodia is seared into my brain,

Into my brain, into my brain, into my brain...

(My Reply)

It has been said many times, that the BRAVE MEN of the 101st AIRBORNE, are the "Tip of the Spear", being the first into battle. Why should it be any differeant now...?! I hope you'll see in the days to come, that MANY Vietnam Vets will step up to "Back their Navy BROTHERS"......!!!

My Uncle was a "trooper" in the 327th/101st, and is VERY PROUD of his service to his fellow troopers, his family, his country....!! I joined the 101st AB Association a few years ago, to understand what these BRAVE men and women have done for us. The Association takes "non-troopers" into the Association as members, and I am very PROUD to be a member of it. I have met many that fought for US from WWII, Korea, and Vietnam, have many books about all 3 wars, and some "signed" copies by the men that "lived" through what they wrote about....! These are VERY PROUD MEN, and they don't take to being called "baby killers" by ANYONE....!! They had a job to do, and they damn well did it to their VERY BEST...!! God love them all...

Camdodians do not celebrate Christmas. The vast majority of them are Buddhist.

Bach hit the nail on the head.

Buddhists dont' celebrate Christmas. IN that part of asia, missionaries were notably unsuccessful, while there were a few christian converts in that part of asia, there weren't many, and they weren't exactly outspoken followers or anything like that.

Sorry guys, There was a large Catholic population in both Vietnam and Cambodia at the time. French Indochina, remember?

Probably a lot less now thanks to Kerry's Killing Fields!

This was the PBR base closet to where Kerry served in late Jan, Feb, and March of '69.

U.S. River Patrol Boat Staging Area Ha Tien (1968-1969)

The American Naval Base at Ha Tien, on the South Vietnam-Cambodia border in the Mekong Delta region, served as a forward staging area for river patrol boat (PBR) units engaged in anti-infiltration operations along the Vinh Te Canal. In keeping with the Vietnamization of the war. The Ha Tien facility was turned over to the Vietnamese Navy in December 1970 after two years of operation.

Any insertions in the area would have normally been handled by them.
