With so much emphasis being put on Kerry's medical records and how they could end the debate, is it possible that he is buying time to get them altered? Is this possible? What is clear is that Kerry has many friends in high places and the mainstream media comes instantly to mind. It isn't inconceivable that he has friends inside the DOD willingto do some dirty work.

Is this "KerryGate?"

His medical records aren't the only records that are part of the real issue!

Unless the Kerry campaign manages to slip Sandy "Socks" Berger into the Navy's archives with a big eraser stuffed down his shorts Very Happy I don't think there's much they can do to change any official records. Right now, the "strongest" card they hold with respect to these records is their ability to not allow them to be released.

Yes, part of the records are in the Navy Archives. I know, I worked POW/MIAs cases there. But other records are going to be at St Louis. Be careful - there was a fire and many records were destroyed and damaged by the firefighting effort. It would be too easy for the Kerry camp to say, "oops, they got burned up"

NavyChief:
He can't say "oops, they got burned up" until he signs the release and he'll NEVER take that chance.

I honestly would not put this past him.

He has shown time and time again how little integrity he has.

I have NO doubt that he has several copies of everything that ever hit his service jacket, medical and dental records. He was too smart and working the system too hard not to have backed up whatever the archives had.

They weren't preaching it to departing members back then, the way they do now, but I know in my heart that Kerry's first concern has been to cover Kerry's own rice-riddled butt.

There's no way he isn't hiding copies of many things - his AAR's, Streuli's fitrep, the re-written citations for the stars, etc.

My ex-wife destroyed my DD214 and Discharge Certificate because she knew how special the were to me and she was EVIL.

I keep meaning to get copies but have been lax in my duty.

I have my Grandfathers,Fathers, and Uncles... All USN VETS

My Brother was USAF Post Viet Nam

My other Brother is USA MSGT Active now and will have 31 years when he comes home from Iraq. Bet he retires,eh?

So was it Kerry or Mrs O'Leary's cow that was in St. Louis the day of the fire?

Sorry about the fire news, but yes it happened. We had a terrible time finding Vets who returned from WWII because a good portion of the alphabet got either burned or water damage.

It would be illegal for me to say how to do it, but I do know a way to get Kerry's records. I don't think I want to jepordize my family and five kids for going to jail over it. But it would be fun in a demented way Twisted Evil

seperate note: Loved the cow reference...

Oh, I'd just love to hear Kerry cry his records were lost in the St. Louis fire, in 1973 Laughing

Quote:
A fire at the NPRC in St. Louis on July 12, 1973, destroyed about 80 percent of the records for Army personnel discharged between November 1, 1912, and January 1, 1960. About 75 percent of the records for Air Force personnel with surnames from "Hubbard" through "Z" discharged between September 25, 1947, and January 1, 1964, were also destroyed.
What Was Lost

It is hard to determine exactly what was lost in the fire, because:
There were no indices to the blocks of records involved. The records were merely filed in alphabetical order for the following groups:

World War I: Army September 7, 1939 to November 1, 1912
World War II: Army December 31, 1946 to September 8, 1939
Post WW II: Army December 31, 1959 to January 1, 1947
Air Force December 31, 1963 to September 25, 1947

Millions of records, especially medical records, had been withdrawn from all three groups and loaned to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) prior to the fire. The fact that one's records are not in NPRC files at a particular time does not mean the records were destroyed in the fire.

You can read more about it here, including how to help rebuild any files lost;

http://www.va.gov/pressrel/99stlou.htm

I've outed more than one phoney wannabe Vietnam vet by their claiming their DD-214 was lost in that fire Laughing
