Liberals love to think of themselves as the intellectual elite, yet every time John O'Neill whom I believe to be a conservative is being interviewed we are watching a mental giant at work. I know O'Neill is an old school Democrat but those days are over. The democratic party is run by the communists and has been since the Vietnam war. As I told a WWII vet this past weekend the Democratic party is no longer the party of Truman or FDR and not even close to being that of JFK, rather it is a proletariat divide the people party so the upper class component can remake the country in their image at everyones expense. From Lenin to Pol Pot the first thing the communists do is create in the peoples mind a 2 class system and exploit it to their advantage to gain control. Edwards "their are 2 americas" is communism. Make no mistake every election from here on is about keeping these communists at bay. Hopefully, black America will soon realize they are being used by the communists at their expense. I cannot believe black America has not waken up to the fact that conservatives want to teach their kids and empower them through Bush re-installing phonics in schools and attempting to install vouchers where they could actually goto a very good private school at 5k a year.

Btw, if you can afford the 250 dollars buy John Adams 'Defence of the constitutions' which is the refrence for the founding of our countries Republic form of government. Make no mistake a true democracy is just another form of tyranny.

Moderator Note - since this topic isn't about John Kerry, I'll be moving this thread to the Gedunk & Scuttlebutt board.

I totally agree that he is a great representative!

I feel for him, all these hours and days on the road, all these appearances. I hope he gets some sleep - it takes a very long time to completely recover from donating a kidney and I worry about this stress and upheaval and what a toll it might be taking on his health. He's just so good at what he does, though.

Never loses his temper, never breaks a sweat... gets his points across evenly and clearly.

I have a huge admiration for ALL the Swifts! They're all terrific in their own ways.

Bob Elder - so soft-spoken, but such a barbed truth. He's the one who had me jumping up and down and literally cheering during the press conference. "John Kerry was the Field General."

Andy Horne - man, I'd buy him a beer, too, if I could. He makes no bones about what he means.

Joe Ponder - I cried halfway through his presentation and still get that ol' eye-sweat thing going when I think about it.

Roy Hoffman, so firm-voice and absolutely steadfast in his convictions.

Stephen Gardner, with the comical bent.

Grant Hibbard, brisk and also decisive in his statements.

All of those who spoke left lasting impressions on me. I'd have been so proud to serve with or for any of them.

And here they are, giving up their 'normal' lives and liberty in order to engage a threat to our safety - they're still trying to fight for our country.

He has given me faith again in our system Navy! It is soo easy to become jaded, especially when for soo long our family has known the communists are attacking countries from within rather then overtly to see someone like O'Neill take a stand on principle for what he believes is refreshing to say the least. Btw, I am in no way endorsing the republican party for they have a horrible record on making way too many things criminal, but they are the lesser of evils. I hope for a strong conservative/federalist party to come to power. When I say federalist I mean as in limiting federal power not empowering them. The framers of our constitution were actually federalists in knowing the federal government had a job to do but they had to make sure it was limited in its scope.

Yep, I'm with you, GenXr. Our government is out of control.

And the older I get, the more federalist/conservative I get. Wink Cranky ol' lady! LOL!

Just watch the c-span House or Senate procedings, sometime. Good heavens, we have some real idiots at the helm.

yes, and it's really creepy -- all the COMMITTEES.. Geez. I watch them alot because it's the only place one can get a glimpse into who these people are. Honestly, I never cared much about what "the gov't" is and don't even know "how it works" -- you could say I've been disengaged from current affairs all my life because my interests lie deep in history - until 9/11 jolted me into the present. Then I started watching C-Span all the time and cripes what a shock!

Can't say I have much of it figured out, just shadows and shades of impressions and things to wonder at, particularly regarding the motive, in general, of the individuals in positions of power -- a lot of the people seem to me to be petty and juvenile. Committee meetings are predictably forums for personal agendas, personal attacks and speeches -- except for some who appear to be genuinely interested in dealing with the topic at hand, others only want to prove a personal point. When I say that it seems to me the republicans are more concerned with getting things done than the democrats -- more reasonable, more respectful of other's opinions -- it sounds like a bias, but it's based on what I see and hear them say and I can't pretend they don't do the things they do.

It's what it is -- except, there are some bright Dem lights shining in amongst the petty, little people, and thank goodness for that! So many complaints over and over that they don't have enough power..... that they deserve more, and lest we forget, Byrd will shake the Constitution at you and remind you who the real president of this country is: the democratic senators, that's who! And you'd better listen to them and do what they say because they run this country and that's that. Not "we" -- they, individually.

What really angers me is when these senators -- Kennedy (& many others), on a panel about the prison issues, for instance, with the military commanders sitting in front of him to be questionned on a terribly important issue, holds up and reads newspaper columns and then throws those points at the witnesses -- he's all indignant and rude -- all angry & puffed -- well, I read today..(accuse, accuse)... and this book said ... But he's not asking about facts and trying to get information -- he's just arguing about the opinions of others. That's the research for the meeting: the morning's paper.... The witnesses being his "captive audience," so to speak. Them and all of us as he struts upon the stage.. And I'm urging the witnesses - WALK OUT, this is not reason man, this is madness!! You don't have to take that!! But they do, I guess they do.....

Another odd thing is how a person takes their time where they are supposed to question to get information about something they supposedly don't know about and need answers to, and just give a speech. Then they say, well my time is up. I've seen Hillary do this time and again - along with all kinds of sarcasm toward whoever is sitting in front of her. And I'm thinking of the old adage that one cannot learn what they think they already know ... and that is a rampant problem in the Congress.

There is one thing they all do that drives me bonkers: any personal point they want to make they preface with "The American people want .." or "the American people know" -- specifically when they are digging for facts or trying to trick out soundbytes from someone they don't like, to use for, forgive me but it seems like - that they want to gather so they can use to attack something in the gov't. That's a generalization including, perhaps to use to attack the CIA, the defense dept, or the whitehouse, or whoever is on their radar that day....

... SO, they bring in "the American people demand" this information! -- (when we know damn well it is a document or a statement that THEY personally want -- many times things they want "exposed" seem to me to be damaging to our country) Like they establish credibility for themselves because they speak "for America."

After I heard this a few times I started feeling a strong revulsion for it. Hey, mr agenda-man, I do NOT agree with you! -- stop "speaking for me." All they should be able to "have on their side" in their arguments is perhaps to be able to say "their constituents want" (which supposedly they represent), or better yet, "I WANT" because that's what it appears in the end to be. All these individuals running around personally grabbing whatever it is they need to get to wherever they are going.

Being an independent free-thinker, I've never concerned myself much with parties or generalized about "Dems" or "Repubs" before ... and it disturbs me that I now DO draw a line between them -- I get this from directly watching & listening to them the last couple years and I am seeing (exempting a number of honorable folk) a generally angry, hostile, combative element of the Dems -- a borderline personality disorder, if you will, something controlling and elitist about them, and self-loathing, and especially, a general will towards accusing this country of wrong-doing about just about everything we try to do or have done or will do.

Something occurs in the world and their response is, well, okay, what have WE done wrong now? We'd better apologize! It's our fault and we should hate ourselves for it. We are the only actor on the stage. We are the only country with an agenda for our future and we'd better stop being so selfish and especially, we'd better stop having our own identity and blend in better with the world.

Meanwhile, even a common person, like myself, after watching all the build up to the Iraq war and all the interchanges & meetings at the UN, and the words & body language of the major players at all the press conferences late into the night, got a glimpse into something going on with Europe and Russia and China, etc, and I had a feeling that pieces were moving around on a multi-dimensional chessboard and that the future may hold many surprises and that not all is as it seems -- but that definitely, America beware (beyond & including the current war) -- something else might be brewing. ..

And seeing what I see in the radical democrats and their "accuse America first" policy (which goes back to Kerry/Kennedy - Vietnam - that era), it seems to be evolving into something even worse than communism. Whatever it is, it does not include self-respect or honor. I guess that's why when the Swiftees began this battle I engaged so quickly, beyond my support for the vets themselves and the restoration of their honor, I see the danger for America in falling into the hands of these folks who definitely are still around and have mutated into something I cannot define, but it is anger & condemnation and "you shut up" if you don't agree -- and I've always had trouble with people attempting to tell me that.

Something is wrong here -- and these people need to be watched --I don't think in terms of conspiracies -- but more in terms of a clash of mind-sets, the direction of movement of our culture. And right now -- when I hear about another committee being convened, and another committee (based on any hot point in the news), it looks to me like the setting up of inquisitions (by any other name...) and I question the tone and the purpose of many of these and I don't even think the Congress realizes what they are doing -- it's just becoming a norm.

And this battle now for truth and honor has taken everyone by surprise because they have forgotten such things were important -- they don't even know what it is when it is directly in front of them! But one thing for sure, the courage of this action on the part of our soldiers has definitely STOPPED the smooth flow of the radical left's march to power.... Very Happy
