I've got a question about Kerry's Band of Brothers that he carts around with him on his plane et al...
These guys seem to be the only ones from Coastal 11 that confirm his story. While thumbing through one of his biographies, I seem to recal reading something along the lines of : When he returned to the states, he went to work to get his fellow shipmates moved to less hazardous duties.
Is there any truth to that? It would sure as hell explain a lot about why those particular guys support him so strongly. Also, Rasmun [sic] talks about writing Kerry up for a Silver Star that was downgraded to a Bronze. Did Kerry write up Rasmun [sic] for anything in that same action?

| There could be any number of reasons they are such avid supporters of kerry's. I think it's a matter of money. These guys are what, early to mid 50's? In order to follow him around so much they'd have to be fairly wealthy. I know the campaign is paying the expenses, but some of them must have families. How are they living? I really don't think they are independantly wealthy, I think kerry is paying them a 6 figure salary if they will back him up. Does that make sense? |

It sure would be interesting to know if they were being paid a salary.
Is that info available from campaign finance reports?

There's a psychological process that can cause people in dangerous situations to form very strong bonds because of their dependence on each other to stay alive. This process is one reason police corruption is sometimes difficult to investigate. Officers feel an obligation to lie to protect those accused of improper behavior because of this bond. Kerry's crew may have the same attitude toward Kerry. They, and Rassmann, may believe they are alive today because of Kerry and thus they have a very strong obligation to do whatever is necessary to help him.
There is also a possible link with the silver star incident. If they feel they did something wrong and lied about it then, they might have convinced themselves that the lie is what actually happened. One possibility I've been wondering about is if Charlie started to surrender before the initial shot was fired.
