I'm also struck by the amateurish handling of this by the Kerry campaign. So far three different people have shown up on talk shows to debate John O'Neill and O'Neill has demolished everyone of them.
The reason for O'Neill demolishing them is that this is a "Truth againist the, Buy lies campaign", Kerry is running...

I liked the first ad alot. But this new ad may even be better!
That "he sold us out" comment is so true. Any time you can use the enemy's own words against them - it's a huge plus.
My only advice for now, maybe later on in the campaign try to relate some of Kerry's past to modern day events. Such as his "unauthorized" meetings with the leaders of communist North Vietnam.
Imagine if today, a former soldier joined left-wing protesters to undermine the US war against terrorism - they met "illegally" with Al Sadr or Bin Laden, negotiated "unapproved deals" - and then tried to smear the US into accepting the radical demands in those terrorist deals?
That's what Benedict Arnold Kerry did in the early 1970's. He knowingly
"smeared all US soldiers" and "sold America out" to jumpstart his politcal career of lies. |

Good analysis Beldar and Nagourney's article was interesting. One thing Nagourney didn't mention and what the Kerry campaign didn't count on was how compelling the SWBT ads are.I happened to tape Hannity and Colmes the night the first ad aired and I watched the ad over and over again. I found the ad compelling and the men who were speaking believable. |

ArmyWife,
I do not come from a military family, per se. My father was in the Navy (USS Essex, TF 10) between Korea and Vietnam, my one uncle served on a oil tanker near the end of WWII and my other uncle served in the Air Force as well, but they were all fairly short enlistments.
However, I have NEVER, even as a child growing up in the 1970's and 1980's, believed that the "baby killer" testimony levelled at Vietnam vets was true and I tried to make sure that any time I met a Vietnam vet I thanked them for their service. I felt this would, in a small way, help ease the pain of the broad brush stroke applied by John Kerry.
Brave men being vilified by false accusations is not something I care to repeat in this country's history, nor honor by bestowing upon the accuser the world's most important job as leader of the free world.
It's time for Kerry to pay the piper! |

I was never going to vote for Kerry, the SBVT ads have just served to reinforce that decision. However, what I have noticed is the lack of presidential temperament of John Kerry. George Bush and even Bill Clinton had everything but the kitchen sink thrown at them and remained cool underfire.Kerry seems almost childish in comparison hiding behind lawyers, lashing out at George Bush and engaging in name calling because someone dared challenge his "war hero" persona.Kerry could call a news conference like Geraldine Ferrao(sp) did when she was a vice presidential candidate and questions were raised about her finances. She answered questions and was pretty impressive underfire. Kerry won't call a news conference because he can't risk being asked embarassing questions he'd rather not answer.
I'm also struck by the amateurish handling of this by the Kerry campaign. So far three different people have shown up on talk shows to debate John O'Neill and O'Neill has demolished everyone of them. If Kerry can't handle the Swiftboat Vets how's anyone to believe he can handle Iran, North Korea or the war on terror? I'm sure none of this is lost on undecided voters. |
I really liked your post and I agree 100% |

Hear that? Hear that? It's the sound of nuts and bolts hitting the ground as the kerry campaign machine shakes itself to pieces. When he can't even have a lead in Ohio at this point in the election, that is very bad for him.
An important historical note also. The Gallop poll showed last week that Bush's approval raiting was 51%. NO president ever with a approval rating of 50% or higher at this point in the election has ever lost. And john kerry is not the person to upset that 100% trend. He's as arrogant, unemotional, unlikable, and disingenuous as a person can get. He is all things clinton, except that he has LESS than no charisma, and when he lies, they really do look like lies, and can't be spun into some kind of seemingly quasi-truth, like clinton can do. |

Actually there is a theory that "THE Candidate" can ONLY debate "THE Incumbant" and they are actually doing a "professional" even if POOR job defending.
More important than missing Kerry, notice that they are NOT allowing the OTHER Swiftvets -- the "Kerry campaign crew" out for debate or UNSCRIPTED press conferences.
Rassmann came out briefly last week, but himself started listening to O'Dell's more authoritative account and then wouldn't address direct questions but starting pleading "35 year old memory fades".
Sandusky had a statement at the Thursday press conference but only ended up OUTING the lie that "only Kerry stayed" when he explained WHY only Kerry LEFT.
What you are seeing is Kerry being defended by PROFESSIONAL POLITICAL OPERATIVES who will NOT debate issues but will stay on the talking points and retreat to attacks on Bush when cornered by a Swiftvet who just keeps telling the authoritative truth.
Where is the Kerry Campaign CREW?
Where is FORM 180?
Why did Kerry change his "Christmas in Cambodia" story FOUR TIMES already?
Why did Kerry lie about who stayed and who had to return?
How many of Kerry's Purple Hearts were self-inflicted through his own negligence?
How did one of those self-inflicted wounds from EALIER IN THE DAY and NOT under enemy fire get moved to the "river incident" and moved from his butt to his arm? _________________ Herb |
