This could be a good idea. Four MDs of the appropriate specialties -- two of them democrats, two of them Republicans, and none of them knowing eachother -- could privately examine him, one at a time, each submitting his findings to the media above Kerry's release signature.

But consider this -- what if Kerry already had scars before going to Vietnam? What if medical opinions differed on the probable causes of these scars? What if he inflicted superficial wounds on himself just prior to submitting his after action reports? He could easily have seen what such scars looked like by just looking at those of men who had been wounded in the ways he described.

I read somewhere and I wish I could recall it where Kerry said he STILL has shrapnel in his "leg"

Hello? I thought his arm was affected not his leg.

We're kinka missin the point. We'r not trying to convict him of fraud in a court of law (although he is probably technically guilty of that), we're trying to evaluate the character of a man being considered for the most powerful job in the world. That he would waste his time (assuming it was worth anything) and the time of medical personnel in a war zone sent there to take care of the wounded so that would have a doctor's documentation in his records so he could get a decoration and eventually come home earily. This shows clearly, to me at least, that his priorities were "totally self-serving". This is also demenstrated by by his taking an "early exit" from Nam. How many Iraq vets in hospital with "real" wounds when interviewed say stuff like "I just wanta get outa here and back to my buddies". Takes a lot of imagination to picture Kerry saying something of that sort.

Show Us the Scars

Showing your scars is an ancient practice. Cicero defended legion veterans in court two thousand years ago by displaying their scars honorably won in battle. In the days before computers, printing, and elaborate filing systems, you wore the record of your valor on your body. John Kerry has repeatedly told us how valiant he was in battle. He wants to be admired and praised for valor. Show us the scars!

LMAO I should've thought of that! The rice embedded in his butt...Well, that's one I wouldn't care to see...if it's there at all. Thing is, he's already showing his ass!

Yup, Kerry has been talking about the schrapnel in his leg. He said it to the group of firefighters (the Bring It On/Republican-Texas attack speech), and also it's mentioned as the final sentence of the new ad featuring Rassmann.

I'm confused too, though.

I thought it was rice and possible schrapnel in his buttocks, not leg. Unless gravity has taken its course?

Oh lord. I can see it now rather then missing a week supposedly to vacation while actually recouperating from Botox injections, Kerry will miss a couple of weeks while he undergoes a surgical scar procedure. hehe DONT give him ideas. The guy will do it.

"Scars? I need scars? Teresa! Quick! Get me a ketchup knife!!"
Probable words of John Kerry.

I have been lurking here for a few weekd now with great admiration for this group. I finally had to join today because a thought struck me while reading this thread.

In the meticulous research for the book photgraphs were likely gathered. Are there any clear pictures of him in short sleeves? Short pants? Would scars of the wounds he claims be clearly visible?

Just a thought . . .
