I think Brit may be a key player in this.

Brit has his teeth into this. However, he did make a comment that surprised me when he said this will be over soon and no one will be talking about it. That was strange .. sort of demeaning the entire story and the mission of the SBV, which seems contrary to how hard he is working on this story. He needs emails on that attitude -- and mine has already been sent!

I think what Brit meant by this is that 527s can't advertise on TV after Sept. 2.

People,

You can advertise after 2 Sep if you are a PAC (MoveOn has this exemption). There are other exemptions as well, and I seem to recall SBVT has one. If the Dems are counting on silencing us after 2 Sep, they may be in for a rude shock.

Wow. Did not know this. How can we verify if this is true?

If I (we) do this is there someone who can get it to O'Neill and the publicists who can get it to the press?

I will do it or help -- if I know that you guys will check and correct it and GET it somewhere it counts.

My specialty is taking the complex and making it simple to understand AND remember.
(I get paid the big bucks for this.)

Herb, if you build it and are confident it is fully vetted, I'll get it to where it needs to go. No assurances beyond that.

Thanks

re: assurances
No, that's fine -- I would like someone to say they are INTERESTED in such a product.

Another here has suggest we have a Rally for the Swiftvets in Austin on the 12th and I could use it to speak there unless there are objections to that. (I am a speaker and technical trainer and can keep it both truthful and interesting.)

re: vetted
I would show it to you guys here to VET it.
I would want corrections, maybe additional write-ups to the key points by those here. Links to good sites and such.

Create it as versions in all of Word-Powerpoint-PDF-WebHtml --
email-able and also displayable.

The key is to get a few knowledgeable people here who will help or at least proof it VISCIOUSLY (in a friendly way <GRIN>.)

These things are a lot of work when done right but its probably better than the 200 news posting I am making each day.

jfnk,

All I know was what I was told about a week ago. Moderators or Swifties, could you weigh in on this.

That said, I believe it. O'Neill is too good a lawyer not to miss this detail.

Someone posted the other day that O'Neill had filed with the exception to go beyond the cut-off.

My apolgies Herb...I hit edit instead of "quote" and wiped out your post above. Could you replace my erroneous edit with your original post?

Thanks and mea culpa

I am wondering if the old media has now decided on the tactic of reducing this to a disagreement between equally fair sides. They throw up so much detail that the uninformed public will just decide that there is no way to get to the truth. In fact, that is what the MSM is saying. Fog of War and all that stuff. This would be a win for them because the truth is that they are lying.

I think that is what the Dems did with the 911 Commission. They wanted to be able to say that Bush and Clinton were equally at fault for creating the circumstances that made 911 possible, when in fact it was almost entirely Clinton's fault. And they did not mind if Clinton shared the blame because he could not be hurt - he was not running for office.

It was posted in another thread that Rassman was the ASST. S-1 and supposedly the awards and decorations officer for his unit.

Cause for raised eyebrows at least.

Don't have an ounce of backup for this. It needs to be researched thoroughly.

Anybody want to tackle it.

I'm sure that you can at least chase down my memories by using the search feature with key words awards and decorations officer.

Good luck.

I don't know this personally but of all the sites I have read this seems the most clear (and likely authoritative):

1st Lt. James A. Rassmann was the XO of his Special Forces A-Team A404
http://michnews.com/artman/publish/article_4808.shtml

In those days A-Teams were usually 12 man (although it varies by years etc.) and designed to be easily split to two 6-man sub-teams on the two officers: the CO being (nominally) a Captain (0-3) and the 10 enlisted all Sergeants.

In some cases even the Sgts would work as commanders/advisers of indigenous forces so they might operate in a very distributed fashion.

So far they are much better than I expected. I thought we were going to get slaughtered after the Rood deal. However, things on the whole are going quite well. I am really heartened by Brit Hume and Billy Kristal, who seem to really get it. Poor Juan from NPR is a sorry man. By the way don't our tax dollars support NPR. How can they be so connected to the Kerry campain?

Keep checking them, for the reason given in another post of mine. My offer was to them.

Excellent article. That's the way I see it too. I have never seen it done this way in any other documents. The Major is to be commended.

That michnews analysis sounds very convincing, I doubt much of it could be logically disputed by anyone. Someone present that day needs to bring out the speed of the "river" current so the civilians don't have the impression Rassmann was getting carried through the rapids to his certain death. I would bet the canal is fairly stagnant, but I couldn't testify to that from anything I've heard. Good idea?

You are probably right -- I have been dumped into the Mississippe delta at the mouth of the river (not in combat obviously) with all my gear -- way down below New Orleans and even Port Sulfer (think that's right but it might just be Sulfer, always got those confused).

We just floated around gathering up our gear until another boat came and got us.

(I was a Commercial diver and the big deal was my diving hat/helmet)

Herb,

Port Sulphur (as opposed to Sulphur, which is west of Lake Charles, and where I grew up)...
