If Bush had admitted on Cavitis show that he burned down villages do you think Matthews would not care about it ?

cavett hasn't a clue about what the Swiftees are doing -- he's buried in his own opinions about war as a whole -- he's a useless guest, won't engage in current issues.... sounds like one of JK's old group back then ...

How else do you convince everybody that a connection exists?

Cavett looked like they sat him up in his casket to do the interview.

50 minutes about the battle between Kerry and Swifties...

Kerry can not be happy about this. He would rather be out there lying about GWB policies...

This is not going away.. It is taking the oxygen out of Kerry's campaign...

Even called Edwards out of durance Vile to attack...

We are winning....

Cavett seemed to relish lecturing all of us about his personal opinions on "war." I never knew anything about him, as he was only a moderator of a show back then -- but geez, what a know-it-all. I wish Pat could have talked more.... no Swiftees on -- minimal show.

I forgot he said that. Yeah -- what exactly did he mean? What a joke.

In Chris Matthews' illogical mind, aiding and abetting a "diplomatic" wing of the Viet Cong at 28 years old is just a rite of passage to maturity. Can we honestly hold crimes of naivete against a young, conflicted John Kerry? LOL

I agree. The focus needs to be on Kerry and the accusations against him by the Vets. Bringing Bush into is pure politics on Kerry's part. He just wont face the accusations. One thing, I am hoping for, is that someone gets a clear, definitive list of accusations presented to Kerry so that he can try to defend them (try!).

I believe the American public, as well, would be more supportive of the Veterans against Kerry if there was a clear list of specific things that Kerry MUST answer about. Then this "mudslinging" or whatever accusation wouldnt hold at all.

I think it is very telling that Kerry himself has not been willing to address any of the questions. If he is so in the right he should be able to hold a press conf and be a man and answer all the charges.

I hope everyone knows about Brinkley. He has an exclusive contract with NBC and they are using him only in very controlled situations. Did you notice how Chris cut off the Cambodia stuff. He knew that Brinkley would have to answer some tough questions about Kerry`s claims and the deal was made between Brinkley and Matthews to not allow it to become part of the debate prior to the program.

Maggie, we should all applaud your email to Chris Mathews. You were polite, but firm and knew what you were talking about! As our Navy vets would say, "BRAVO ZULU, MAGGIE!"

At some point, somewhere, John Kerry will have to answer questions about Chrismas in Cambodia, his medals, and what he did here and abroad after his service. Those will not be easy moments for a man of his massive ego and limited intelligence. This will be the next phase after the Chris Matthews-type sycophants sit around and toss soft balls out and then grimace when a Pat Buchanan frames the issue as well as he did:

"How does someone have a Road To Damascus moment that didn't happen?"

That, folks, is the best question I have heard posed to date.

Kerry either must dig into a bunker and not attend the debates or this question will be shouted out to him the first time he moves into even a semi-friendly press corps. There really is no answer for it.

On a light note, I rolled when Matthews asked Buchanan if he didn't let Michelle Malkin answer a question. When Buchanan gave an answer Matthews didn't like he shouted him down.

That was my last Hardball viewing unless Chris does us all a favor and announces in advance he will commit suicide on the air--although a coronary appears the more likely demise for the man.
