As a new member of this forum, I'd like to thank Lew Waters for pointing out that there are plenty of democrats that question John Kerry's integrity.
I am one of them. Although I am a POD, and will be voting for Bush this time. As a young girl, I opposed the Vietnam war, but felt frazzed most of the time , because I knew so many that served. Honorable men. All of them. John Kerry made the statement in a call to a Swiftboat vet that it wasn't the Swifties he had called "babykillers". ???
Previously, he had stated that the Swifties were lying and that they had committed atrocities. The guy reminds me of a weathervane. I think of all the vets that I know that went to Vietnam and came back after serving far longer than John Kerry. Not one of them waved their medals around or referred to themselves as heroes , and as for talking about their experience in war, most of them did that at reunions with their buddies, because those buddies understood. My dad was hit in the Battle Of The Bulge and barely survived. He stayed in and served in Korea. By the time we were stationed in Germany for the third time, we thought he'd be shipping out for Vietnam. The Army decided because of his age and looming retirement to keep him in Germany training troops for Vietnam. Not once in all of his years, did he wave any of his medals around or speak ill of any of the men he served with. He despised John Kerry from the time he heard him speak publicly in 1971. He lies peacefully in a National Cemetary now, with all three wars ( and medals) inscribed on his headstone.
I think of Vietnam and think of a big, affable jock named Rodney who sat next to me in History in high school. He enlisted right after graduation. Gentle , easy-going Rodney who just wanted to serve.
I support the Swift Boat Veterans with everything I've got. I respect them for the honorable men that they are, and who have stepped forward to warn us about the duplicitous fraud who conceivably could get elected to the highest office in the land. I believe they are still serving, and I thank them. I also hope they don't back down. Valor. Honor. Integrity. Loyalty. Characteristics of the Swift Boat vets. My deepest gratitude, Swifties.
I think about Kerry's betrayal of all Vietnam vets and my mind turns to the gentle jock, Rodney. Killed in action. He was 18 years old.

Thank you very much Bob, BC and Beansoup , for the warm welcome. I came on to show my support and ended up sounding like a windbag. Guess I needed to get it out. I know it isn't just me that feels that all the veterans of all the wars that we have been involved in are connected. My grandad survived the Battle of the Argonne in WWI, to watch my dad go off to WWII, and on down the line. Connected. All of them. Someone like Kerry sullies the term " band of brothers". Oops... There I go again. I will indeed send a donation to the Swifties, Beansoup. Thanks again , guys.
Just for being here.

The only windbag is Kerry
Although I am not a Vietnam Vet I did grow up on a USMC base in the 70's and seen first hand what emotions where caused by Kerry. Most of those emotions I can tell you where hate and it was not for the war. Those men that I was proud to call uncle, where, and still are, and will always be, HEROS in my eyes and heart. _________________ Remember United Flight 93, "Are you guys ready? Let's roll."
