Yeah, that is typical of the MSM, their SOP.

Many readers just cruise through the headlines, and gain an untrue impression of the story from a "creatively" crafted headline. They know this, and it is why they do it. They get themselves off the hook by saying that the real story is in the "fine print," but there is a significant portion of their readership that don't get that far. Subtle but effective.

A more accurate, less manipulative headline would be something like "DNC and RNC both show gray area links to 527s" One recent AP report on this story got it right: "Campaign Lawyers Advising Outside Groups" By SHARON THEIMER, Associated Press Writer. At least it is fair.
