True, but it's easier to spin SOMETHING than to spin NOTHING.
The thing is if it didn't get widespread participation, it would work in his favor. Just organizing it though might intimidate him into withdrawing from the event. He does have the perfect out to do so and I think he would if he thought the event would work against him. |

someone needs to send a copy of 'the new soldier' transcript to them - highlighting what he said - so that they are at least aware. |

Right. If the Kerry handlers saw something like that happening in Nashville, it would up the ante on them since they couldn't be sure of the outcome until the event itself. Since they are hoping that the issue will disappear from the media shortly anyway, they might want to avoid the risk. |

gotta be someone that knows someone -locally there- that knows someone in the Nashville media that will air a story - sort of like 'controversial visit' and bring up the book, his reference to American Legion, his actions and what he has never apologized for... |

What are the chances that people hand out flyers at the entrance! Is there anyone out there up for this?
Swift Vets can't coordinate with anyone else --- but possibly some people from Tennessee would take it upon themselves to do something. |

What I am concerned about is that many of those in the American Legion opposed to Kerry could be busy at the Republican Covention in New York. |

Would it be a bad thing if no-one came? If the vets did not go to the
speech and let it be known that they are not supporting Kerry in any way?
Kerry can not run around and find enough vets to support him and may
well take some with him, but it would not be enough to show the world
they really support him.
We need the guiet Protest Warriors at something like this. Standing
quietly across the street with their signs.
Of course, the problem still remains the MSM will cover it so Kerry looks
good, although this did not help him when the vets turned their back
on him. It got into the news in spite of the MSM manipulations.
As we have learned the MSM can play their games to the hilt, but
somehow the news is getting out about Kerry in spite of them. _________________ Swiftvets rock! |

What happens if Kerry is able to pack the audience and obtain standing applause from enough vets that they fill a well directed camera shot? This is kerry's best chance to marginalize the swiftvets. I think they should expect that he will pull out all the stops to walk away from that convention with a spun "endorsement" from the crowd.
Other threads have commented on how even Fox is trying to back out of coverage. All the media needs is a fingernail clutch on an excuse and they will try to ignore the Swift Vets forever afterwards.
Incidentely, if such a thing were to occur, it would also detract from President Bush and eat into any "bounce" he could get from the convention. |

I read that and mentally recognized "what if they gave a war ..."
To paraphrase the saying from that era:
What if he gave a speech, and no one came?
About the same thing that would happen since nobody will have reported it. |
